Ice skating in NYC abounds across all five boroughs, especially as the holiday season gets underway. What’s more magical than gliding along the ice and pretending you’re in a Christmas movie? Maybe enjoying some hot chocolate nearby afterward. (Just a thought!)
To ring in the cold-weather activity, we’ve rounded up our favorite rinks across the city. Grab your skates and let’s go!
1. The Rink at Rockefeller Center, Midtown
Open now: Celebrating its 88th season, the Rink at Rockefeller Center is arguably the most iconic ice skating rink in NYC. It’s worth the chilly temperatures to get this once-in-a-lifetime holiday experience, especially once the Christmas Tree rolls into town. General admission skating tickets are available to purchase on the Rockefeller Center website.

2. Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park, Midtown
Open now: If you’re looking for the ultimate winter in NYC experience, Bank of America Winter Village in Bryant Park is New York City’s only ice skating rink with free admission. Plus, you must reserve your entry time, which means no more waiting in long lines when you get there. Don’t forget to pick up gifts at the open-air holiday market after your loop around the rink. If you need to refuel, snacks are aplenty, but we’re kind of partial to Strawberro‘s delicious sweets.
🕐: 8 am – 10 pm daily, 8 am – midnight on select weekends and holidays

3. Abe Stark Rink in Coney Island, Brooklyn
Open now: Sure Coney Island might be known for its summertime activities like Cyclone rides and Nathan’s hot dogs on the boardwalk, but it’s just as fun in the wintertime with its local ice skating rink. The Abe Stark Rink first opened in 1970, and it continues to be a favorite weekend spot in the colder months. Plus, there’s plenty of reason to stick around this winter. For the second year in a row, Luna Park’s Frost Fest will return and include pics with Santa, igloos, holiday markets, and more.

4. Wollman Ice Rink in Central Park, Upper East Side
Open now: Central Park’s Wollman Ice Rink looks like the inside of a gorgeous snow globe, with views of The Plaza Hotel and the charming Gapstow Bridge in the background. It’s also within walking distance of high-end stores like Macy’s, which will have some of the most festive holiday window displays.

5. LeFrak Center at Lakeside in Prospect Park, Brooklyn
Open now: The LeFrak Center in Prospect Park boasts two outdoor rinks for your skating pleasure — one that’s covered and one that’s uncovered. Enjoy picturesque views of the stunning Prospect Park Lake and an easy commute from various parts of Brooklyn! Even better? Ice bumper cars are making a return to the Brooklyn hotspot this season.

6. Domino Park in Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Open now: A brand new ice skating rink is has debuted on the Williamsburg waterfront inside Domino Park’s brand new public plaza, Domino Square. Beyond the egg-shaped rink the plaza will also offer skaters nearby food in the square like Stretch Pizza and Frita Batidos to enjoy in between sessions.

7. Clove Lakes Park in Sunnyside, Staten Island
Open now: If you live in New York’s outermost borough and don’t want to make the trek into Manhattan, have no fear: you have a public skating rink right in your own backyard! The WWII Veterans Memorial Ice Skating Rink is run by the NYC Parks Department, and is located within Clove Lakes Park on the north shore of Staten Island.
🕐: Friday 4 pm – 10 pm, Saturday 12 pm – 4:30 pm & 7 pm – 10pm, Sunday 12 pm – 6 pm

8. Staten Island Skating Pavilion in Charleston, Staten Island
Open year-round: No need to wait around until the holidays for ice skating fun at this ice rink! Open year round, the Staten Island Skating Pavilion is bringing back public skating hours on Saturdays and Sundays.
🕐: Fridays 8:10 am – 10:10 pm, Saturdays 8 am – 10 pm & Sundays 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm

9. Roebling Rink in Dumbo, Brooklyn
Open now: Formerly Glide Rink, Roebling Rink has reopened in Brooklyn Bridge Park to give skaters access to gorgeous panoramic views of lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge.
“Roebling Rink will offer an unparalleled and affordable ice skating experience,” park reps wrote on Instagram. “Whether for a casual skate or a holiday outing, it’s going to be a must-visit winter destination in New York City.”

📍: Emily Warren Roebling Plaza at Brooklyn Bridge Park
10. The Rink at Brookfield Place, Tribeca
Open now: Each year the incredible Rink at Brookfield Place opens, run by U.S. Olympians Melissa Gregory and Denis Petukhov. It’s typically opens around the holiday season and hosts special skate with Santa sessions and Santa solo skate performances! This year’s rink comes in tandem with first-ever Holiday Under the Palms, a brand-new concept for this year’s holiday season inspired by the recent arrival of 16 new palm trees to BFPL’s iconic Winter Garden.

11. Industry City, Brooklyn
Opens November 29th: Industry City’s open-air ice rink is set to return for a fourth year! Tucked between holiday markets and wintery restaurants, the Industry City attraction begs you to enjoy a slew of seasonal activities while you’re there. Stay tuned for information on this year’s opening date and prices.

12. Ice Rink at The Seaport, Seaport District
Open now: Pier 17’s skating rink comes around every year, taking over the rooftop of the beloved Pier 17 concert venue. This year’s ice skating rink is in collaboration with The Dead Rabbit’s beloved holiday pop-up Jingle Jangle! The festive celebration makes its way to the roof for the first time ever, bringing along Irish family festivities for the holiday season including over-the-top décor, a Christmas soundtrack, and of course their kitsch-themed cocktails and seasonal dishes.

13. Oculus, FiDi
Open now: Take in all of the world-famous architecture and holiday music and cheer at the Westfield World Trade Center this year! An ice rink is coming to the renowned Oculus for the 2024 season, so stay tuned for more details and an opening date!

14. ArtRink at Brooklyn Children’s Museum, Crown Heights
Open now: This cherished children’s museum is the perfect spot to go ice skating with your kinds! The Brooklyn Children Museum’s ArtRink is officially open for the winter, where you can glide around a synthetic-ice rink and look at an interactive art installation and playhouses featuring works from local artists and designers. There’s also a new sock skating experience this year where you can glide around in sock bootees instead of traditional skates!
