Industry City in Brooklyn is home to an outdoor ice skating rink, tucked in between wintery restaurants and holiday markets in Courtyard 5/6. And good news for those making their way to the Sunset Park destination: it’s officially open for the season!
Admission is $15 per person, and if you need to rent skate you can do so for an extra $10. The rink also has “skate aids” to help you keep your balance for $10, and a bag check for $5 so you don’t have to lug anything onto the ice.
This year, the rink is spicing things up with Ten Dollar Thursdays, Après Ski VIP Lounge access, and IC Ice Rink Fridays, which features fun themes and cool music. The schedule is as follows:
- December 6th: Swifties
- December 13th: 90s Hits
- December 20th: Holiday Music
- December 27th: Top Hits of 2024
You can even warm up with a drink if needed—The Frying Pan is operating the Wheelhouse Bar just alongside the rink, so you can easily grab a hot chocolate or a hot toddy (and watch other people slip and fall over!).
Industry City has a rich history as a manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution center that started in the 1890s. It had been abandoned from the 1960s until 2013 when it was redeveloped as a business and entertainment epicenter. Now there is everything from office space for countless local businesses to shopping to restaurants and even a Japanese food hall.
The ice rink is only a small addition to a whole slew of winter activities. You can explore public art across the campus, browse and shop The Makers Guild with gift options from local artisans, and hang out by the courtyards with heated tents and fire pits.
