Sorry, folks: the NYC weather 10-day forecast indicates grey and gloomy conditions ahead.
Although we experienced colder-than-usual temps this Memorial Day Weekend — so much for that beach outing — at least the dreaded nor’easter effects weren’t as potent as we might’ve originally suspected. However, we’d still like to see some reprieve, but Mother Nature is not letting up.
If you’re curious when those dresses and shorts can come out of the closet, we’ll tell you everything you need to know.
NYC weather 10 day forecast
You might mistake NYC for London with what the skies have in store. (Don’t say we didn’t warn ya.)
Beginning Tuesday, May 27th, and lasting until Monday, June 9th, NYC will experience cloudy, partly cloudy, or rainy weather with temperatures ranging from the low to high 70s. That means we might not encounter clear, sunny skies for nearly two weeks.
Next Tuesday onward, however, we will have several 80-degree days, something that hasn’t happened regularly this season. While you might want to carry the umbrella, don’t expect to be too chilly towards the end of the first week of June.
As The Weather Channel’s forecast further indicates, these conditions are prime for high humidity, so do prepare for a few messy hair days as well.
So, is this what we can expect as summer inches closer? Well, it depends who you ask.
The National Weather Service’s summer weather predictions say New York is going to be in for hotter, rainier conditions from May to August. It also predicts a 50-60% chance of temperatures rising above the historical average.
Others say we’re going to be in for a “doozy” — lookin’ at you, Old Farmer’s Almanac — with hot conditions. Considering 2024 was one of the hottest summers of our lifetime, maybe this puts us a tad on edge. But unlike previous predictions, the Old Farmer’s Almanac says it will be hot and dry.
Time will tell how things unfold, but as far as the next 10 days or so — no need to carry your sunnies in your tote bag. For more on the 10-day forecast, visit the Weather Channel’s website.
