After being consistently late to the office this week due to the riveting new Bad Bunny Calvin Klein ad on Houston, we’re thinking a trip to Puerto Rico is just what we need this spring break.
Lucky for us, flights are as low as $117 right now on Skyscanner from NYC to San Juan. *Keep in mind that Skyscanner constantly updates its searches, so prices may very from the time this article was published.
For those looking to go anywhere but Miami for spring break (even though flights are as low as $64), Puerto Rico could be a great alternative. As an archipelago in the Caribbean Sea, Puerto Rico has 270 miles of coastline. And while we’re praising Mother Nature for the possible 70-degree weather in NYC this weekend, Puerto Rico has been seeing nothing but a tropical climate with temperatures in the 80s.
What to do in Puerto Rico
Here’s a few things to do on your trip to Puerto Rico.
Roam Old San Juan
After landing, be sure to spend some time in the capital and explore the beauty of Old San Juan and its colorful, historical buildings.
Admire turquoise waters at Flamenco Beach
Flamenco Beach is a wonderful destination to get a tan and do some snorkeling.
See a bioluminescent bay
Explore one of Puerto Rico’s three bioluminescent bays. Mosquito Bay in particular is absolutely gorgeous in the evening by kayak.
Discover cavernous wonders
You can take a tour of the Rio Camuy Caves to travel through one of the world’s largest cave systems.
If Puerto Rico doesn’t interest you, Skyscanner will let you filter its search to collect the cheapest flights available from New York to everywhere. Right now, the search aggregator is showing $227 flights to Italy, $235 to Mexico and $45 domestic flights.
Due note that if you book any domestic travel past May 7th, 2025, you will need a REAL ID or REAL ID-compliant document to get through security. Learn everything you need to know regarding REAL ID and how to get one if you don’t already have it on our guide.
