Can we have a drumroll, please?! Spring has sprung, and the NYC weather this weekend is going to be gorgeous.
We hope you’ve adjusted your wardrobe accordingly: we’ll be experiencing our first 70-degree day of the season on Saturday, March 29th — well, 71°F, to be exact — and we’re ready to hit our nearest green space and farmers market for some much-needed time outdoors. Is it too premature for sunscreen? We don’t think so!
According to The Weather Channel’s 10-day forecast, we’ll experience mostly cloudy skies early on in the day, then partly cloudy skies in the afternoon. Per Apple’s weather app, parts of the city can even reach up to 76°F, making the Polar Vortex feel like a distant memory. The humidity is expected to be around 5o% and winds will be between 5-10 mph. But again, the real draw here is 70°! We’re scouring for our sundresses as we speak!
If you need some tips on how to spend the first record-breaking day of 2025, might we suggest having a glimpse at some outdoor public art, taking a peak at what’s happening at the New York Botanical Garden — the Orchid Show is still in bloom — or even taking some snacks to the park? Outdoor dining doesn’t return until April 1st, but there are some restaurants with designated outdoor spots that are going to be filling up quickly once people get ahold of the forecast.
Speaking of which, you might want to take a good look at the list of weekend things to do in NYC carefully and plan accordingly. Saturday’s weather is going to be a small glimmer of hope. On Sunday, March 30th, we’re going to return to the mid-50’s and rain, which is not the ideal way we’d want to ring in Tulip Day in Union Square, but we’re willing to brave a li’l rain for our blooms. We imagine it’ll be a shock to the system, so let’s make sure we don’t do away with our sweats just yet. (Sorry, folks!)
All in all, we’re very anxious to see this early sign of spring, and we’re planning to enjoy it wholeheartedly! You?
