LaGuardia has certainly come a long way since being named the worst airport in the country back in 2018–in 2024 alone it jumped from being the worst to the best mid-sized airport in the country, it was then named the best airport in the country, and then was named the best airport in the world, officially surpassing JFK. Even the raccoons are trying to catch a flight out of LGA!
And the praise just keeps on coming–LaGuardia Gateway Partners (LGP) recently announced that LaGuardia’s Terminal B has once again earned Skytrax’s coveted perfect 5-Star Terminal Rating!
Introduced in 1999, the World Airport Star Rating by Skytrax has become a global benchmark of quality evaluation for the aviation industry. Following a detailed evaluation, which considers everything from airport terminals’ layout and cleanliness to airport staff’s efficiency, consistency, and friendliness, airports and terminals are given a rating from one to five stars. The rating methodology is consistent across the industry and all airports, regardless of size, are assessed using the same criteria.
And LaGuardia’s Terminal B once again earned a perfect five stars, two years after making history as the first airport terminal in North America to achieve this distinction and being named the World’s Best New Airport Terminal.
Since earning its first five-star distinction in 2023, Terminal B has continued to improve airport service quality and elevate the guest experience via enhancements such as more electrified seating, improved signage with walking distances for easier navigation, and a more inviting atmosphere with soothing sounds and music. Moreover, city officials dedicated $30 million to improve NYC bus service to the airport, and the terminal even recently unveiled an adorable new mascot!
