With the news that a warmer spring than usual is on its way, our wanderlust is at an all time high. And once we saw all the must-visit destinations for 2025, we just knew quite a few plane rides would be in our future, no crystal ball needed. But if you’re planning to take to the skies it’s important to know which airports will get you to your destination stress-free, or, well, as stress-free as possible.
Well, a recent report by Lyft looked at both its own data and public data to score the 30 largest airports in the U.S. on 12 measures across four dimensions: convenience, affordability, efficiency, and amenities. Those scores were then combined to find out which U.S. airports are the most convenient for traveling, and only one airport in the Tristate area made the list.
According to data, one of the most convenient airports in the U.S. is none other than LaGuardia Airport, with a convenience score of 89. Okay, so it’s not first. And no, it’s not even second; it’s seventh. But it did rank consistently well across several metrics, such as commute time by car and public transit, and again, it was the only airport in the Tristate area that made the list, so we’ll take what we can get!
To put things into perspective, passengers spend an average 26 minutes in a Lyft ride to or from an airport, and LaGuardia’s journey is just slightly higher than that, at 28 minutes. The public transit journey is shorter than average, however. The public transport airport commute tends to be more of an ordeal, of course, averaging 41 minutes to reach the city center. LaGuardia’s public transport journey is much lower than that, at 30 minutes.
Additionally, customers wait an average of nine minutes for a rideshare pickup across all airports. However, LaGuardia recently underwent some renovations designed with rideshare in mind to reduce that wait time to six minutes. The only other airport with a rideshare wait time that low is Austin, also at six minutes.
Beyond being one of the most convenient airports, LaGuardia was also selected as having the ninth best airport amenities in the country, particularly for the speed of its in-terminal wifi and selection of shops. Unfortunately, however, its concessions do still come with a hefty price tag.
