1. La Floridita, Washington Heights
Das La Floridita in Harlem, in der Nähe des berühmten Cotton Club, ist ein kubanisches Diner, das neben einer großen Auswahl an Vorspeisen auch einige ausgezeichnete kubanische Hauptgerichte anbietet. An Wochenendabenden kann man hier sogar Stammgäste finden, die zu lebhafter kubanischer Musik auf der Tanzfläche abfeiern.

2. Victor’s Cafe, Midtown
Das Victor’s Cafe ist ein belebtes und gehobenes Lokal im Theater District, das neben seinen schmackhaften kubanischen Gerichten auch ein hervorragendes Ambiente und Dekor bietet. Victor’s nimmt das volle Essenserlebnis ernst, mit einem verzierten Essbereich mit authentischer kubanischer Kunst und kitschigen Details, wie den Affen, die Tischlampen halten.
Victor’s gibt es seit 1963 in New York, ursprünglich in der Upper West Side und heute unter der Leitung der Tochter des Gründers, Sonia Zaldivar. Es ist ein großartiger Ort, um sich zu entspannen und einige der hauseigenen Cocktails in der Lounge zu genießen, wo kubanische Jazz-Combos den Gästen gelegentlich ein Ständchen bringen. Die Einrichtung ist altmodisch und erinnert an die Nachtclubs der 1950er Jahre.

Im Guantanamera in Midtown können Sie fast jeden Abend kubanische Live-Auftritte erleben. Hier gibt es tolle Happy Hours, großartige Sandwich Cubanos und Calamares Fritos, die nicht von dieser Welt sind. Machen Sie unbedingt mit, wenn die Musik zum köstlichen Essen erklingt, und tanzen Sie mit! Außerdem gibt es zwei Filialen in Hell’s Kitchen und Queens.

5. Zona de Cuba, Die Bronx
Dieses kubanische Restaurant mit Dachterrasse ist Havanna am nächsten, und wir können einfach nicht genug davon bekommen. Das Zona de Cuba in der Bronx bietet mit seiner tropischen Ästhetik, den Plüschmöbeln und den köstlichen Cocktails eine hervorragende Atmosphäre, um ein karibisches Essen zu genießen. Wir empfehlen, einen Tisch zu reservieren, zumal das Dach ein begehrter Platz ist!

6.Café Habana, SoHo & Midtown

Das Café Habana ist eine feste Größe in NYC und das aus gutem Grund. Die Speisekarte ist kurz und bündig und es gibt einen der besten kubanischen Snacks der Stadt: gegrillten Mais. Mit Mayonnaise, Cotija-Käse, Chilipulver und Limette belegt, ist dieser Snack ein absolutes Muss für jeden Besucher. Natürlich ist auch das kubanische Sandwich köstlich, ebenso wie die Cocktails mit Casamigos-Pulver!

7. Margon, Times Square
Margon ist ein niedlicher kleiner Imbiss am Times Square, der einige der besten kubanischen Gerichte der Stadt serviert. Selbst wenn Sie nicht hungrig sind, lohnt sich ein Besuch im Margon allein schon wegen der nostalgischen Atmosphäre der seltenen drehbaren Hocker und orangefarbenen Formica-Tische. Die wechselnden Klassiker und gelegentlichen dominikanischen Gerichte sind es wert, eingeplant zu werden, aber auf die ausgezeichneten kubanischen Sandwiches, den Tintenfischsalat und den Lechon Asado (gewürzter Schweinebraten) können Sie sich immer verlassen.

8. Cuba Restaurant und Rum Bar, Greenwich Village
Der Name sagt schon alles. Als eines der neueren kubanischen Restaurants in NYC ist das Cuba Restaurant and Rum Bar auf eine große Auswahl an Rumsorten und Cocktails spezialisiert, mit denen man kubanische Hauptgerichte wie Ropa Vieja (geschnetzeltes Rindfleisch), Camarones al Ajillo (Knoblauchgarnelen) und Arroz con Pollo Criolla (Hühnchen mit Reis, nach kreolischer Art) genießen kann.
Das Cuba Restaurant ist ein kleines Lokal mit großem Geschmack, das bei der Zusammenstellung seiner Speisekarte Anleihen bei anderen lateinamerikanischen Ländern macht, was von seinen Gästen sehr geschätzt wird, die auch mit den starken Mojitos und dem gemütlichen Ambiente prahlen.

Dieses Stammlokal in Corona ist mit Bildern von Persönlichkeiten aus der Zeit vor Castro, kubanischen Baseballspielern, kubanisch-amerikanischen Führern, Landkarten der Insel und anderen bunten Erinnerungsstücken geschmückt. Natürlich ist auch das Essen ausgezeichnet, wie z. B. Picadillo (Rinderhackfleisch mit Oliven) oder das exquisite Chicharron de Pollo (gebratenes Huhn mit Knochen und Knoblauch).
Das Rincon Criollo ist seit 1976 ein Zentrum der kubanisch-amerikanischen Gemeinde in Queens und bietet eine lustige, freundliche und lebhafte Atmosphäre, die Gäste jeden Alters und jeder Herkunft begeistert. Man hat das Gefühl, mit einer kubanischen Familie in Havanna zu essen.

My Cuban Spot ist ein malerisches Lokal mit bescheidenen Sitzplätzen im Innenbereich, einem großzügigen Außenbereich und erschwinglichen kubanischen Gerichten. Nach dem Vorbild der Calle Ocho in Miami, in der es eine Vielzahl schwungvoller kubanischer Lokale gibt, bietet dieses Restaurant eine lustige und einladende Atmosphäre für jedermann. Zu unseren Lieblingsgerichten gehören die Schüssel „I’m Broke B*tch“ (drei Sunnyside-up-Eier und Reis mit Hühnergeschmack) und “ Somethin Fishy Going On“ (Reis und Bohnen mit dem gewürzten Fisch des Tages). Auch der kubanische Kaffee ist ein Muss!

12. Pilar Cuban Eatery, Bed-Stuy
Dieses kubanische Restaurant in Brooklyn hat sich der Bewahrung der klassischen kubanischen Küche verschrieben – in ihrer reinsten Form – aber mit einem modernen, gehobenen und aktualisierten Ansatz. Die kultigen Gerichte werden mit traditionellen kubanischen Zutaten wie sauren Orangen, Cachucha-Paprika und authentischem kubanischem Brot zubereitet und machen ihre Gerichte zu den authentischsten überhaupt! Die Empanadas und Yuca-Pommes sind nur einige unserer Lieblingsgerichte, aber vergessen Sie nicht einen der Rum-Cocktails und Backwaren.

Obwohl es etwas außerhalb von NYC liegt, ist The Cuban definitiv die Fahrt und Ihr Geld wert! Wir haben das Cabana zum ersten Mal entdeckt, als wir während der US Open in Queens waren, und man kann mit Sicherheit sagen, dass wir immer wieder hierher zurückkehren werden, weil es einfach so gut ist! Seit 1995 wird hier Nuevo Latino Cuisine serviert, und die Zutaten gehören zu den frischesten überhaupt. Wir empfehlen, sich ein paar Empanadas Jamaiquinas mit jemandem zu teilen, bevor man eines der köstlichen Hauptgerichte verschlingt.

15. Amor Cubano, UES
Zu guter Letzt auf unserer Liste steht Amor Cubano, ein Lokal mit Live-Musik, tollem Ambiente, außergewöhnlicher Gastfreundschaft und natürlich großartigem Essen. Beginnen wir mit der Mojito-Liste, die zu den besten der Stadt gehören könnte. Wählen Sie zwischen einigen unserer Favoriten wie dem Granatapfel-Mojito oder dem geschmackvollen Pina Mojito. Was das Essen anbelangt, so können Sie mit der Ropa Vieja oder einer schmackhaften Paella, zwei der zahlreichen Klassiker des Hauses, nicht viel falsch machen. Machen Sie sich darauf gefasst, die liebevolle Inselatmosphäre zu spüren, denn die Stimmung ist hier definitiv auf dem Punkt.

Dieses kubanische Café bietet köstliche Gerichte zu einem Preis, der sich mit Ihrem Geldbeutel vereinbaren lässt.
