Everyone is usually trying to get out of NYC for Labor Day weekend. But that just means there’s more city for everyone else to enjoy. We’ve already included some Labor Day weekend activities in our end of summer fun list. Here are 10 more awesome things to do this holiday weekend:
1. Kayaking and Wine Tasting
It’s not too late to plan a day-cation to a place just outside the city. This trip with Sourced Adventures will let you explore the Delaware River valley, with a smooth and calm kayak down the river, before arriving at a beautiful vineyard to sample delicious wines. Round trip transportation from Manhattan is included, and if you buy your ticket on Fever, you get $24 off!
2. Museum of Natural History Tour
If you’d rather stay in town, re-explore a place you’ve probably been to before. This Museum Hack tour will reveal all the secrets in the Museum of Natural History. Everyone will be leaving work early on Friday anyway. Spend your afternoon on an adventure.
3. Tiki Disco Summer Cruise
You can also take a cruise that stays close to home. Good Room, the hottest club in Brooklyn, is setting sail on Sunday September 6th for a party cruise. The DJs are the captains of this ship, and they’re ordering all feet on deck to dance the night away.
4. Painting Party
You never know what you’ll create when you’re drunk. The Irish Exit pub is hosting an artsy party on Saturday night where you drink wine and learn to paint. All experience levels are welcome.
5. Washington Square Park Art Exhibition
This is a yearly tradition where hundreds of artists from New York and around the world exhibit their work for the public to peruse. There will be all kinds of pieces: jewelry, ceramics, metalwork, oils, acrylics, the list goes on!
6. West Village Speakeasy Tour
Time hop back to the 1920s and visit all of the hidden speakeasies in the West Village, and of course grab a few cocktails along the way. If you download the Fever app, you can buy a ticket for this event for 50 percent off.
7. Open Bar Brunch at Brooklyn Colony
Brooklyn Colony is running a sweet deal only on Fever, which includes banana bread and muffins, an entree, and an open bar of mimosas and bloody Mary’s, all for only $20. If you’ve never been, it’s a really cool, old school place, complete with a jukebox and shuffleboard.
8. Annual Fuse Party at Liberty Theater
At this party, you will absolutely feel like you took a trip to Vegas. Entertainment will include aerial dancers and acrobats, and you’re likely to see some celebrities. The best part: Fever users get in for free.
9. Coney Island Walk
Continuing our ‘re-exploring familiar places’ theme, this Coney Island walk with New York Adventure Club can give you a pretty interesting history of the city’s retro amusement park. You might be surprised what you learn…
10. West Indian-American Carnival Day
This is one of the most memorable (and colorful) parades in the city. There will be floats, costumed stilt dancers, music, and delicious food, like jerk chicken, curry goat, and oxtail. Yum.
