From the Winter Village at Bryant Park to the Grand Central Holiday Fair and the Columbus Circle Holiday Market, there’s no shortage of spots for New Yorkers to head to during the holiday season for shopping and tasty treats.
But one market stands out from the rest as it was just voted one of the best Christmas markets in the world–the Union Square Holiday Market!
Global travel site Big 7 Travel put together a list of the 50 Best Christmas Markets in the World, based on factors such as attendance numbers, social media popularity, vendor, food, and entertainment options, and more.
And the Union Square Holiday Market came in at number 13 on the list!
According to the study, Union Square’s Holiday Market brings in 2,000,000 attendees a year. It’s no surprise why–the market features 185 vendors featuring unique gifts created by local craftsmen, artists, and entrepreneurs offering everything from jewelry and hats to puzzles and chopstick art.
Plus, with endless tasty treats to nibble on such as crepes, empanadas, pie, and, of course, hot chocolate to warm you up, you basically wouldn’t need to stop anywhere else to do your holiday shopping!
Their social media presence is pretty high too, with TikTok views at a staggering 173,700.
Even the most committed scrooges will be charmed by New York’s most famous annual Christmas market. Over 150 wintry alpine chalets take over the square, selling all the best kinds of high-quality and affordable stocking fillers. If you’re not in it for the crafts, come for the food. This year, there will be at least two dozen booths dedicated to serving all your mulled wine, piping hot mince pie and the gooey raclette sandwich needs.
Though the Union Square Holiday Market can easily be considered your one-stop-shop for all holiday needs, be sure to check out all the other holiday markets sprinkled around NYC this season!
Happy holidays!
