Valentine’s Day is just around the corner which may have you thinking about popping the question.
If you’re looking to get original for your proposal, you’ve come to the right place. Take a look at our 10 recommendations for the perfect proposal location.
1. The Cloisters
The Met Cloisters are located on four acres overlooking the Hudson River. It’s a beautiful spot to spend the morning and there are plenty of spaces for you and your beau to cozy up.
2. The Roosevelt Island Tramway
With views of the river and the city from above, this could be the perfect backdrop for your proposal (if the cable car isn’t jam-packed that is!) If not, you could always wait till you get onto the island to get down on one knee.
3. Coney Island
Ok, perhaps this suggestion is a bit tacky but waiting to get to the top of the giant Ferris wheel on Coney Island could result in some pretty beautiful memories.
4. The Botanical Gardens
The Bronx Botanical Gardens is by far one of the most beautiful backdrops one could hope for, for a proposal. Whether you visit in winter or spring, the different flowers and plants make this a very special location.
5. The Bronx Zoo
Animal lovers, this one’s for you. Outside the premises you have the beautiful entrance to serve as your background but inside you have lions, tigers, and bears, *oh my* to serve as the witnesses to your special day.
6. A Secret Garden
New York is full of secret spots and a secret garden is particularly romantic. Let the hustle and bustle fade into the background and ask away! [Related: Secret Gardens in NYC]
7. The Beekman Hotel
The Beekman Hotel is a landmark building from 1880. The interior is absolutely incredible; some lucky couples even have their weddings here.
8. The New York Public Library
The stairs of the NYPL could be the perfect backdrop if done right. Those Greek revival columns, those regal lions? It’s not only the perfect spot for bookworms but also tourists, and architecture and history lovers.
9. The Met Museum
This is a similar option to the NYPL. Art connoisseurs will love this proposal and the backdrop is particularly picture worthy!
10. Grand Central Terminal
Believe it or not, among the hustle and bustle there are some private nooks and crannies at Grand Central. Or, if you’re the extraverted type, just get down on a knee in front of the clock!
