Oh, we’ve all had a few choice words for expensive, loud, and occasionally crazy driving NYC taxis… well guess what, they aren’t too pleased with you either!
According to reference.com there are 13,237 taxi cabs in New York each averaging approximately 180 miles per shift… and if those cabs could talk, they’d have some stories to tell… and they’d probably be NSFW. MetroFocus asked NYC cab drivers what passengers do that drives them crazy, so here’s how we can make our taxi drivers lives easier:
#1: They arent your couples therapist or your punching bag… respect the boudaries.
#2:Four people don’t fit in the back of a taxi
It can obstruct a drivers view, and thats not safe.
#3: Arguing about a tip
If you’re too cheap to tip, don’t tip, but don’t argue with the cab driver about it! Blame the MTA for the fare charge.
#4: Stop With the Backseat Driving
#5: Drunk Passengers are a pain in the a**
#6: Understand what “Off-duty” means
We get it, you’re in a rush and you’ve got places to be, but off-duty means off-duty… cab drivers have to rest too!
#7: Be clear about your destination and don’t make last-minute changes
#8: Don’t ask the driver to “Step on it”
#9: (This Explains why they have almost disappeared from our cabs) Turn down the TV
#10: Understand that complaints can have grave consequences for drivers.
Don’t refuse to pay or complain for stupid reasons, you’re screwing with someones livelihood. When you refuse to pay a drivers only recourse is to call the police. We’re not saying that drivers are always blameless, but understand a complaint may lead the Taxi and Limousine Commission to take a drivers licence away… so way your decision carefully
