New York is bustling with small and independent businesses that give the city its heartbeat.
From cozy cafés tucked into brownstone-lined streets to family-run shops that have been here for generations, every day is a perfect opportunity to support our neighbors who pour their love into what they do.
And with the incredible number of independent bookstores scattered across the city, there are endless chances to get lost in a new story, both on the page and off.
Whether you’re flipping through well-loved classics or discovering a brand-new voice, these little literary havens remind us that in a city as big as New York, there’s always room for stories that bring us closer together.
For those looking to head out on a literary journey that combines all of these things, we have great news. All across Brooklyn, these beloved indie bookstores are opening their doors for another year of its annual Brooklyn Book Crawl.
From April 18th through April 25th, 34 participating bookstores will open their doors for a citywide celebration leading up to Independent Bookstore Day on April 25th. Participants will get a taste of a scavenger hunt, a neighborhood stroll, and a love letter to Brooklyn’s literary soul.
All you have to do? Pick up your passport at any participating store and start the journey.
