Com a chegada de março, um mês dedicado a destacar as incríveis conquistas das mulheres ao longo da história, e a proximidade do Dia Internacional da Mulher (8 de março), não há melhor momento para mostrar seu apoio às muitas empresas inspiradoras de propriedade de mulheres de Nova York.
De butiques a livrarias, de restaurantes a bares clandestinos, há uma infinidade de lugares para explorar. Aqui estão alguns de nossos favoritos:
1. Chillhouse, SoHo
Cyndi Ramirez-Fulton abriu esse café-spa no SoHo, oferecendo manicures, tratamentos faciais, massagens e drinques para o bem-estar. Eles se tornaram um grande sucesso por suas impressionantes “Chill Tips” (unhas postiças) que vêm em uma ampla variedade de cores e desenhos.

Cofundada por Trinity Mouzon Wofford, a Golde foi criada em um apartamento de um quarto no Brooklyn em 2017. A empresa de Wofford se concentra em itens essenciais de superalimentos, vendendo produtos de bem-estar e beleza.
3. McNally Jackson, vários locais
A amada livraria independente McNally Jackson está em operação sob o comando de Sarah McNally há quase 20 anos e continua sendo uma livraria icônica em vários locais de Nova York. Além disso, eles acabaram de abrir uma nova loja principal no Rockefeller Center!

Há anos, Lori Leven vem trazendo decoração artesanal para casa e joias vintage para Nova York. Sua empresa prioriza o artesanato, a utilidade e o incrível bom gosto!

As proprietárias Helena Barquet e Fabiana Faria fizeram a curadoria perfeita de sua loja de decoração e presentes. Desde 2013, a loja está localizada no cruzamento de Chinatown e Lower East Side e oferece peças exclusivas e ecléticas que certamente enfeitarão sua casa.

8. Life Wellness Center, Bed-Stuy
Co-fundado por Khadija A. Tudor, o Life Wellness Center é uma clínica de massagem terapêutica e um mercado de bem-estar que oferece serviços transformadores, desde acupuntura até tratamentos quiropráticos.

9. Catbird, Williamsburg e SoHo
Com uma loja em Williamsburg e outra no coração da “Little Paris” de Nova York, essa empresa de joias de propriedade de mulheres, liderada por Rony Vardi, é especialista em tudo que é pequeno e brilhante! Concebendo as joias como poesia, a loja usa 95% de ouro reciclado, 95% de diamantes reciclados e pedras de origem ética. A Catbird é mais conhecida por suas Forever Bracelets (também conhecidas como “pulseiras para sempre”), que são especialmente soldadas ao redor do seu pulso para criar a “pulseira da amizade definitiva” ou uma peça básica!

10. t.a., Meatpacking District
Telsha Anderson-Boone decidiu abrir sua loja de roupas não apenas durante a pandemia, mas enquanto estudava gestão de marcas na NYU. A loja conceitual, voltada para a comunidade que se identifica com mulheres, apresenta estilistas e marcas consagrados e promissores.

11. Talea Beer Co., Williamsburg
Dirigida pelas proprietárias e cervejeiras caseiras LeAnn Darland e Tara Hankinson, a Talea Beer Co. foi fundada em 2018 para trazer “uma perspectiva e voz acessíveis e inclusivas” para um setor dominado principalmente por homens. Sua principal cervejaria e taproom foi inaugurada em março de 2021 em Williamsburg.

12. The Frankie Shop, LES
Trazendo moda feminina que representa luxo e classe, a fundadora Gaelle Drevet tem uma loja em Nova York e outra em Paris. A loja foi criada para inspirar a garota comum da cidade com moda sem esforço. “Toda mulher deve poder usar as roupas que inspiram os designers a fazer, não importa o quanto o aluguel seja alto”, diz o site da loja.

13. Strand Book Store, East Village
Nancy Bass Wyden é a proprietária da terceira geração da icônica Strand Book Store de Nova York. Nancy dá continuidade ao legado da empresa de sua família, que completa 96 anos este ano.

14. Maryam Nassir Zadeh, LES
Localizada no LES, essa butique de propriedade de Maryam Nassir Zadeh vende roupas femininas de luxo. Você certamente sairá mais elegante do que quando entrou.

15. Fishs Eddy, Flatiron
Julie Gaines fundou a Fishs Eddys nos anos 80 e tem vendido pratos desde então! A loja é conhecida e adorada por seu enorme estoque repleto de utensílios de cozinha excêntricos e peças estampadas.

16. DAWANG, Greenwich Village
Daisy Wang lançou essa marca contemporânea de design de streetwear em 2018 depois de “perceber que ninguém estava fazendo o tipo de streetwear asiático elevado que ela queria consumir”. Com sua ambição e criatividade inspiradoras, Wang fez seu nome combinando “vestuário chinoiserie e tecidos chineses com técnicas e tendências de alfaiataria ocidentais” para criar designs diferentes de tudo o que existe no mercado.

17. Gone To The Dogs, Park Slope
Essa loja de animais de estimação do Brooklyn fez uma parceria com um grupo diversificado de mulheres de todo o mundo, de comunidades locais de baixa renda e imigrantes de Nova York, além de comunidades marginalizadas no Sul Global, para obter e produzir produtos de forma ética para seus amigos peludos. Fundada por pais de animais de estimação, Jennifer e Santos, a Gone To The Dogs se orgulha de criar “produtos para animais de estimação bem feitos e gentis com a terra”.

18. Form + Flow, Long Island City
A Form + Flow é uma empresa de propriedade de minorias e mulheres (M/WBE) certificada pela cidade de Nova York, fundada por Shelly Yang. Yang e a sócia fundadora Nikki Carter se esforçam para promover práticas de atenção plena acessíveis à comunidade. Os visitantes podem participar de workshops que vão desde a filosofia do budismo até uma variedade de experiências de bem-estar.

19. Galeria A.I.R., DUMBO
Esse impressionante espaço de exposição foi fundado por um grupo de 20 mulheres para oferecer um local permanente para destacar e elevar as mulheres no mundo da arte. Foi a “primeira galeria sem fins lucrativos, dirigida por artistas e mantida por mulheres artistas” no país.

Aly Giampolo e Colette Dong são as orgulhosas fundadoras do principal estúdio de trampolim cardio de Nova York. O espaço convidativo permite que as pessoas pratiquem o condicionamento físico e mental de uma forma divertida e criativa!

Escondido atrás de uma porta de chocolates está um speakeasy chique que oferece de tudo, de coquetéis exclusivos a tábuas de salgados. Depois de tomar um ou dois drinques, não deixe de fazer compras na parte da frente do estabelecimento, que funciona como uma loja de provisões, vendendo de 60 a 80% de produtos de propriedade de mulheres/minorias. As irmãs e cofundadoras Fallon e Ava King estão iniciando um império de gola alta no coração de Nova York.
