Mariah Carey might be defrosting, but we’re bundling up.
For the first time in six months, the NYC weather will work its way down into the 30s, giving us that November chill we’ve been waiting for. (Is that your teeth chattering or ours?!)
Additionally, the city will be under a freeze watch from late Monday night into Tuesday morning, when the 30 degree temps will be particularly strong. NYC’s Emergency Management system sent out a post on X detailing what to do to stay safe — ranging from pet care to protecting pipes.
Find your puffer coat and ensure your radiators are up to snuff — as a certain Christmas songstress would say, “It’s time!”
NYC weather this week — what to know
Given the fact that the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree is about to arrive in Midtown and ice rinks across the city are gearing up for their new season, we should’ve expected some frigidness, right? According to the Accuweather forecast, wintertime temps will creep in beginning the week of November 10th.
While conditions might still be fairly tolerable during the daytime next week, nighttime temps are plummeting, first on Monday, November 10th, with a low of 35 — a trend that will continue into Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Throughout the week, temperatures each day will hover in the low 50s and high 40s. Additionally, it will likely be fairly sunny before a bit of rain creeps in over the weekend.

NYC, you got through Daylight Savings time and you’ve accepted 5pm sunsets. Now Mother Nature is introducing you to the cold weather. You’re going to be well acclimated soon enough! (You don’t really have a choice.)
Farmers Almanac suggests that the northeast is in for a colder winter than usual, and the Accuweather forecast insist we’ll have more snow than we typically do. (Psst: here’s when meteorologists predict the first snow of the season to hit NYC.)
All in all, NYC: winter is coming, and we’re about to get a taste of it, like it or not. If you need a way to feel toasty, might we suggest a hot chocolate?
