Here’s what snow predictions look like for NYC this year
The Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts that New York — and the northeast — is in for cooler weather this autumn, leading to amazing foliage. Following the best season of the year, winter 2025-2026 is predicted to be colder than usual. But what about the snow?

The AccuWeather Forecast reveals that NYC can see anywhere from 17-21″ of snow this year, compared to last year’s 12.9″. Typically, the average has been 29.8″, so while we’re likely getting more than what we’ve experienced recently, it won’t be as dramatic as it has been in years prior…at least for now.
A direct quote from the forecast says,
Snowfall is projected to be higher than last winter in parts of the Northeast, including Philadelphia, New York City and Boston, though totals may still finish below the historical average as storms during mid- to late winter may produce a mix of rain and snow rather than just snow.
The predictions also indicates that New Yorkers are going to see these flurries and frigid temps towards the beginning and end of the season, so if you’re planning on traveling or skiing, do take note of the dates.
What do you think, NYC? Are you ready for the cold, or are you still holding onto summer?
