Welcome to NYC, where the food and drink reign supreme—and no, we’re not biased, Food & Wine said so! In their newest Global Tastemakers list in the U.S. for 2024, New York City was crowned the best city in the country for food and drink.
When you take into consideration our iconic pizza, unforgettable bagels and melting pot of cultures, it’s seems like a no brainer we snagged the first spot.
In Food & Wine‘s ranking, they gave a special shout out to NYC establishments including L’industrie pizza (home of the mouthwatering burrata slice), Sappe for tantalizing cocktails and Superiority Burger, serving up pie slices covered in tapioca pearls.
“New York City possesses the uncanny ability to deftly balance classic cuisine with the latest trends,” wrote Food & Wine. The city continues to churn out show-stopping new openings with an ever-evolving food and drink scene. Recently debuted Korean fine-dining restaurant Nosku was called out, among elevated fried chicken spot, Coqodaq, that famously offers caviar-topped nuggets.
Following right behind NYC, comes New Orleans, famous for their beignets and po’ boys. In third comes Chicago with Austin and Los Angeles rounding out the remaining top five. New cities added to the list include Honolulu, Washington D.C., and Portland.
Food & Wine’s 2024 Global Tastemakers is a celebratory series that compiles favorites from nearly 200 food and travel journalists on the best of the best in restaurants, bars, hotels, cities, airlines, and cruises.
