Governors Island Park is having a makeover! On July 19th, New Yorkers will have a brand new green area featuring amazing spaces that include NYC’s longest slide!
Here are the some of the new unmissable features coming up:
Outlook Hill: This will probably be the most famous part of the park. Made up of granite seawall blocks, you’ll be able to get to the top of a 70-feet tall hill to see gorgeous view of the Harbor, the Statue of Liberty and the skylines of Manhattan, Brooklyn and Jersey City.
Slide Hill: NYC’s longest slide will be 40 feet high, and the good news is that there will be four of them to avoid long queues (because it will be packed).
Grassy Hill: This 25-foot high chill zone will be the perfect place to come with friends to have some beers (be careful not to get caught), a portable speaker to listen to some of your favorite songs while admiring the Manhattan skyline.
Discovery Hill: Also 40 feet high, here you’ll be able to see a site-specific sculpture Cabin by the internationally recognized artist Rachel Whiteread.
