15 Most Romantic Restaurants For Outdoor Dining In NYC

New York City is one of the most romantic cities in the world, hands down.

There’s so much to do here with a significant other—from a fine dining experience, to spending an intimate day with famous artwork, or even just sitting on a park bench at Washington Square Park. Our favorite thing, however, is food.

Even Disney’s Lady and the Tramp told us as children that food is the way to a loved one’s heart (especially pasta)!

So in the spirit of love and Valentine’s Day, we’ve put together some of the city’s most romantic restaurants. Of course right now the list is limited to outdoor dining, but you’d be surprised how many cozy, glowing, flowery set-ups there are in the city, perfect for date night. Enjoy:

1. Savanna Rooftop, Long Island City

Where: 11-01 43rd Ave 12th Floor, Long Island City

What: Drawing inspiration from the savannas of Africa, Savanna Rooftop is perched on the 12th floor with 180-degree skyline views of Manhattan as well as views across Long Island. As the elevator doors open, you and your beau will be immediately captivated by the view and relaxed charm of the space, with acacia and eucalyptus wood furniture mix with grasses, trees and accent pieces in green and blue, evoking a tranquil resort atmosphere. 2. The Cauldron, FiDi

Where: 47 Stone St.

What: Want a date night with a little magic sprinkled in? Then head to the Cauldron! Currently open for outdoor dining in these enchanting snow globes, enjoy molecular mixology and a fantasy-inspired menu. Check it out here.

3. Watermark Bar, South Street Seaport

Where: 78 South St Pier 15

What: This stunning 10,000 square foot venue perched at the end of the beautifully proportioned double-level Pier 15, Watermark offers an exceptional panorama of the Brooklyn and Williamsburg bridges and Brooklyn skyline. Make the most out of these stunning views as you and your group enjoy a s’mores kit in your very own private heated glasshouse! You’ll also have the option to order snacks like the Watermark Burger or the Chef’s Tasting Menu, and cocktails like Smoke On The Water, Smashing Pumpkins or Gold On The Ceiling. 4. Loulou, Chelsea

What: You’ll stay warm & toasty at LouLou, no matter what the weather is! This new Chelsea spot has heaters at every one of their 70 tables, and beautiful floral displays and glowing lanterns, and completing the romantic atmosphere. Enjoy indulgent bites like the Loulou Burger made with grass-fed beef, clothbound cheddar and caramelized onions, Duck Leg Confit with apple rosemary puree and gala chutney and Steak Frites featuring a 7oz skirt steak and béarnaise. And don’t forget the adorable cocktails!

5. Kokomo, Williamsburg

Where: 65 Kent Ave., Brooklyn, NY

What: How romantic are these glittering curtains of lights at this new Caribbean spot in Williamsburg? Choose from flatbreads, succulent meats, comforting starches and decadent desserts with beautiful presentation, plus refreshing cocktails and house-made elixirs from acclaimed mixologist and beverage consultant Rael Petit in the beautiful heated space.

6. Kyma, Flatiron

Where: 15 W 18th St.

What: Enjoy delicious Greek food in a beautiful (heated) environment setting surrounding by vines and flowers at this Flatiron staple. Word on the street is that they also make a mean martini!

7. Court Street Tavern, Carroll Gardens

Where: 449 Court St, Brooklyn

What: More flowers for the romance! This beautiful bistro, located in one of the oldest bars in Brooklyn, is the perfect spot to cozy up with a winter menu that focuses on a range of classic cold weather snacks and starters. Oh, and did we mention they have an ice rink? Perfect for a full date day!

8. Ten Hope, Brooklyn

Where: 10 Hope St.

What: Twinkle lights and hanging greenery are the perfect romantic addition to Executive Chef Travis McGinty’s new fall/winter menu with options like Squid Ink Gnocchi, Arroser Scallops and juicy 8oz Ten Hope Burgers and Kofta Burgers. Yum!

9. il Buco, Bowery

Where: 47 Bond Street

What: A gorgeous space that reminds you of an Italian home, with the home cooking to match! Though the wine cellar, the most romantic spot in the restaurant, isn’t open for dining, their outdoor set-up is still glowy and gorgeous!

10. Buddakan, Chelsea

Where: 75 9th Avenue

What: This Asian-fusion restaurant is taking outdoor dining to a whole new level. Buddakan’s outdoor seating is decked out with vibrant lanterns creating an enchanting spectacle for nighttime dining. This lantern lit dinner is located right in Chelsea serving as an escape into another world.

11. Lafayette, NoHo

Where: 380 Lafayette St.

What: Fondue for two, anyone? This French restaurant has a new winter chalet “village,” with a delicious market-driven bistro menu with wintery specials. Each lovely chalet seats two to seven people, and is decked out with cozy handwoven carpets, hanging icicles and snowflakes…plus special fireplace heaters!

11. Hutte/Blume, Upper East Side

Where: 1652 2nd Ave

What: This season patio “weingarten” (aka lots of great wine options!) is hidden underneath Schaller’s Stube Sausage Bar, the sandwich shop of the German meat company Schaller & Weber right next door, which has been a part of the UES neighborhood since 1937. Winter’s theme is “alpine dining,” with charcuterie, delicious soups, and hearty game dishes, all paired with a delicious Austrian win

13. Milk & Roses, Greenpoint

Where: 1110 Manhattan Avenue (Brooklyn)

What: This Italian-American restaurant has a lovely backyard garden that you can hide away from the crowds in. Snuggle up with a hot cocktail and comforting pastas with fresh sauces.

14. Marea, Central Park South

Where: 240 Central Park S.

What: This Italian eatery has made the most of the scaffolding covering their sidewalk — each season so far they are added another stunning floral display by Floratorium! Right now the theme is apres-ski, so you can your boo can cozy up with fur blankets, seat heaters, and a special $55 Prix Fixe Menu with complimentary hot whiskey cider drink!

15. La Grande Boucherie, Midtown

Where: 145 W 53rd St

What: There are a few locations of Boucherie around the city, but this version in Midtown is perfect for our current outdoor-dining-only situation. It is a stunning, spacious alley in between two avenues, and though it’s open-air it also has heated floors to keep you warm and toasty! Enjoy French cuisine and signature craft cocktails.
