New Yorkers are known for being rude and maybe a little bit arrogant (but also hot…don’t forget we’re also hot!). But we’ve now officially received a dose of Southern charm with the opening of Carolina-based Southern fried chicken sensation Bojangles in NYC!
For 45+ years Bojangles has been serving up stick to your bones comfort food–think: buttermilk biscuits, chicken tenders, Cajun-spiced fried chicken, sweet berry biscuits, and sweet tea.
Founded in 1977 as a single location in Charlotte, the chain has amassed such a cult following it’s grown to have around 800 restaurants across 17 states–and now they’ve officially opened up shop in the Big Apple!
This isn’t the first time the chicken chain is dipping its toes–or claws–in NYC, though.
Bojangles briefly operated in NYC in the 1980s, though it was short-lived. Now, the chain has made a major comeback with a new, permanent location in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. But this new venture won’t be a solo one. In fact, Habib Hashimi, who’s running the NYC franchise location, has ambitious plans to open up 19 more locations in NYC over the next decade.

Hashimi stated:
I couldn’t be more proud to lead Bojangles’ growth in New York City. Our team has extensive experience running quick-service concepts across New York and Connecticut, and I’m confident residents will fall in love with the Southern flavors, hospitality and convenience Bojangles has to offer.
We’d say best of cluck to him–sorry, really bad joke–but luck is likely the last thing he needs considering the East Flatbush location is not only open 24/7 with all-day breakfast, but there’s also a bacon egg and cheese biscuit on the menu. Sounds to us like Hashimi knows his audience.
NYC is no stranger to a fried chicken joint–we’re sure Raising Cane’s, Chick-fil-A, Popeyes, and KFC ring a bell–but there aren’t too many that are open 24/7, and in the city that never sleeps, that’s certainly a selling point! Next time you need us at 3am, check the Bojangles drive-thru…
