Pessach ist für Menschen jüdischen Glaubens eine Zeit der Besinnung und des Feierns, wenn die Gemeinschaft des Auszugs ihrer Vorfahren aus Ägypten und des Endes der Sklaverei für ihr Volk gedenkt. Dazu gehören viele Traditionen – von der Abhaltung des Seder am ersten Abend mit Gebeten und symbolischen Speisen bis hin zur Lesung der Geschichte aus dem Buch Exodus in der Tora – und natürlich viele köstliche (ungesäuerte) Gerichte, die über Generationen hinweg weitergegeben wurden.
In diesem Jahr beginnt Pessach am Montag, dem 22. April, bei Sonnenuntergang und endet am Dienstag, dem 30. April, bei Sonnenuntergang. Viele Einrichtungen in New York bieten spezielle Pessach-Menüs und Leckereien an, die Sie vor Ort genießen oder mit nach Hause nehmen können, um den Feiertag mit Ihren Lieben zu feiern.
Hier sind einige Angebote für dieses Jahr!
1. Katz’s Deli, Lower East Side
Die New Yorker Ikone Katz’s Deli bietet dieses Jahr ein dreigängiges Pessach-Menü an, das Sie über ihre eigene Lieferplattform bestellen können! Für 35,95 $ pro Person besteht das Menü aus einer Vorspeise (Matzoh-Ball-Suppe, gehackte Leber, Gefilte Fisch), einem Hauptgericht (handgeschnitzte Rinderbrust, ½ Brathähnchen, handgeschnitzter Truthahn, Pastrami oder Corned Beef) und einem Dessert (Honigkuchen, Schokoladen-Babka oder Schokoladen-Rugelach).
Jedes Paket enthält außerdem Tsimmes und grüne Bohnen in allen Kombinationen! 2. Bubby’s, Tribeca
Bubby’s bietet dieses Jahr alles für Pessach an! Beginnen Sie mit einem Abendessen am 22. oder 23. April für 100 Dollar pro Person. Das Drei-Gänge-Menü umfasst Schmorbraten, gehackte Leber, gefüllte Eier, Matzekugelsuppe und einen speziellen Matzekrusten-Beerenkuchen! Die Veranstaltung findet in Eigenregie statt und ist BYOH (bring your own Haggadah). Außerdem bietet Bubby’s am 22. Das Kubeh in Greenwich Village bietet dieses Jahr ein viergängiges sephardisches Pessach-Dinner (plus Seder-Teller) an, das 90 Dollar pro Person kostet und zu dem zusätzlich eine Weinbegleitung erhältlich ist. Zu den Höhepunkten des Menüs gehören die spezielle Matzekugelsuppe von Chefköchin Melanie Shurka, Schnitzel mit Matzekruste und gebratenes Kubeh mit Matze-Reis-Mantel zu Pessach. Am 22. und 23. April bietet das Dagon in der UWS ein spezielles Seder-Menü an, um Pessach zu feiern . Das 85 $ teure Pauschalangebot umfasst einen Seder-Teller, eine Vorspeise, ein Hauptgericht und ein Dessert. 5. Mijo am Pier 57
Mijo, ein authentisches mexikanisches Restaurant in der Food Hall des Pier 57, Market 57, bietet dieses Jahr ein koscheres mexikanisches Seder-Dinner an, das mexikanische und jüdische Wurzeln in einem speziellen Menü vereint. Zur Auswahl stehen u. a. Mexikanische Matzekugelsuppe, mexikanischer Gefilte Fisch mit Guajillo-Chipotle, gebratenes Huhn mit Aprikosenglasur und karamellisierte mexikanische Schokoladenmatze. 6. Russ & Daughters, Lower East Side
Bei Russ & Daughters in New York gibt es von Matzebällchensuppe über Kugeln bis hin zu Makronen alles, was Sie für Ihr Pessachfest brauchen, zur Abholung und Lieferung vor Ort (und sogar landesweit!). Sie können über ihre Website oder telefonisch unter 212-475-4880 bestellen. Die erste Seder-Nacht ist am 22. April, aber warten Sie nicht bis dahin, um zu bestellen, denn die Plätze sind begrenzt und füllen sich schnell!
7. PJ Bernstein, Upper East Side
Das seit fünf Jahrzehnten bestehende jüdische Restaurant PJ Bernstein in New York bietet ein spezielles Pessach-Menü mit Seder-Tellern, Latkes, Matzoh-Ball-Suppe, Gefilte Fisch, gefülltem Kohl, Rinderbrust mit Bratensoße und vielem mehr an – zum Liefern, Mitnehmen und Essen im Restaurant. 8. Barbounia, Gramercy
Dieses mediterrane Restaurant ist vor allem für seinen frischen Fisch und sein Brot bekannt, und genau das steht auch im Mittelpunkt der Pessach-Speisekarte. Zu den von Küchenchef Amitzur Mor sorgfältig zubereiteten Highlights gehören die Tagine vom einheimischen Fisch mit englischen Erbsen, frischen Favabohnen, Meerrettich, rasiertem sonnengetrocknetem Joghurt und bitterem Grün sowie die Topinambur-Suppe. 9. Nat’s on Bank, West Village
In diesem Lokal im West Village findet am 23. April zum zweiten Mal ein Seder-Dinner statt, das aus einem 4-Gänge-Menü besteht, bei dem die Grundnahrungsmittel der Feiertage modernisiert werden.
