Central Park’s Winter Jam is a free festival full of winter activities for all ages that takes place in Central Park every year, but, unfortunately, this year’s festival has been cancelled.
Presented by NYC Parks, Olympic Regional Development Authority, I Love NY, and I Ski NY, a snowfield is blown by Gore Mountain at Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield each year, and all day long New Yorkers try their hand at skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and more.
In years past, New Yorkers even got to experience some other fantastically frosty activities such as:
- Sledding
- Curling
- Ice Bowling
- Snowplay
- Dodgeball
- Flag Football
- Puppet Making
- Activities with the New York Public Library
- Bobsled Photo Op
- Snowcat Photo Op
Alas, a message on the NYC Parks website sadly reads:
Winter Jam 2024 has been cancelled. Be sure to check out the weather in Upstate New York to get your snow fix this season — and be sure to explore all the great outdoor activities still available in our City’s parks this winter!
Though an exact reason wasn’t given as to why Winter Jam has been cancelled, we have a feeling it has something to do with the abnormally warm weather NYC has been experiencing.
On the bright side there’s plenty of other fun to be had in NYC this February.
