We love a good snowfall (or squall) in NYC for sledding and other winter fun, but sometimes the weather doesn’t quite cooperate. But have no fear, there will be guaranteed snow right in Central Park at the annual Winter Jam.
The Winter Jam is a festival of winter activities for all ages in Central Park that takes place every year. And the best part? It’s totally FREE. This year it is taking place on Saturday, February 1.
A snowfield is blown by Gore Mountain in the morning, and all day New Yorkers can try their hand at skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and more.
Here are some of the other fantastically frosty activities that will be taking place:
- Ice Bowling
- Heated New York Public Library Reading Room
- Bobsled Photo Op
- Snowcat Photo Op
Plus, there will be magical LIVE Ice Carving and an Ice Sculpture Garden!
This event is presented by NYC Parks, Olympic Regional Development Authority, I Love NY, and I Ski NY.
Space in the “Learn to Ski” activity is limited and you will have to enter online here to win a spot. Also, participants in the I SKI NY Learn to Ski, snowshoeing, and dodgeball activities must sign a waiver and provide photo identification before participating in any of these activities. If you are under 18, you must have a guardian present to sign the waiver.
