Time to pour one out for New York, a.k.a. one of the best cities for St. Patrick’s Day, according to a new study from WalletHub.
Though we’ll admit we can’t take the gold away from Boston, our ranking as the seventh most festive city in the U.S. for the March holiday is worth celebrating. If you haven’t already, we suggest cracking open a Guinness and heading to the deli for a corned beef sammie — it’s well deserved.
The 10 best cities to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day
According to the research from WalletHub, the top 10 cities for the Irish celebration are as follows:
- Boston, Massachusetts
- Reno, Nevada
- Savannah, Georgia
- Santa Rosa, California
- Worcester, Massachusetts
- Chicago, Illinois
- New York, New York
- Henderson, Nevada
- Buffalo, New York
- Pittsburg, Pennsylvania
The determining factors for the contenders include Irish pubs and restaurants per capita, the lowest price for a three-star hotel on St. Patrick’s Day, and the weather forecast. (Considering the weather in NYC this week was a beaut and we’re officially defrosting, we’ll cross our fingers for warmth on the holiday.)
On the 17th itself, NYC will host the oldest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the world and get into the spirit with drinks (think green beer and green frozen margaritas), fun bites (Lucky Clover Pancakes at Sugar Factory), and so much more. If you need us, chances are we’ll be at the bakery for a loaf of Irish Soda bread.
