Für viele Menschen in den USA ist das Labor-Day-Wochenende das letzte Hurra des Sommers, das mit Partys, Paraden, Messen und allen möglichen aufregenden Veranstaltungen gefeiert wird. Es ist die letzte Gelegenheit, all die Dinge zu nutzen, die wir am Sommer am meisten lieben, und es gibt sicherlich keinen Mangel an Veranstaltungen in der ganzen Stadt, die Ihnen beim Feiern helfen. Dieses Jahr fällt das Labor Day-Wochenende auf den 1. bis 4. September, und damit Sie das Beste daraus machen können, finden Sie hier die besten Veranstaltungen in New York City.
1. West Indian Day Parade
Das Ende des Sommers bedeutet, dass die Brooklyn West Indian Parade am Montag, dem 2. September, entlang des Eastern Parkway für viel Farbe und Aufregung sorgt . Mit der National West Indian Day Parade wird das Erbe der Karibik gefeiert. Sänger, Tänzer und Musiker tragen extravagante Kostüme und gefiederte Kopfbedeckungen, und viele beeindruckende Wagen ziehen die Straße entlang. Weitere Informationen finden Sie hier.

2. US Open
Das weltberühmte Tennisturnier, die US Open, findet an diesem Labor Day Weekend in Flushing, Queens, statt. Erleben Sie Legenden wie Carlos Alcaraz, Coco Gauff und Novak Djokovic bei ihren Zweit- und Drittrundenmatches das ganze Wochenende lang! 3. Richmond County Messe
Das Historic Richmond Town in Staten Island ist ein erhaltenes Museumsdorf aus dem späten 17. Jahrhundert, das in diesem Jahr seinen 44. jährlichen Jahrmarkt veranstaltet. Die Gäste können Live-Musik, lebendige Geschichte, Essen, Fahrgeschäfte, Wettbewerbe und vieles mehr genießen, so dass Familien an diesem Labor Day-Wochenende viel zu tun haben. 4. Das Sommer-HD-Festival der Metropolitan Opera
Das Sommer-HD-Festival der Metropolitan Opera findet an diesem LDW zum 15. Mal statt und bietet 10 Vorführungen aus der Reihe der Live in HD-Kinoübertragungen des Hauses. Die kostenlosen Aufführungen werden auf einer riesigen Leinwand an der Fassade des Opernhauses im Lincoln Center übertragen, wo die Gäste in aller Ruhe zuschauen können.
Die Vorführungen finden vom 23. August bis zum 2. September statt. Vor dem Opernhaus werden etwa 3.000 Sitzplätze eingerichtet, außerdem gibt es zusätzliche Stehplätze in ausgewiesenen Bereichen rund um den Lincoln Center Plaza. Nachstehend finden Sie das Programm der LDW im Einzelnen:

7.Sichern Sie sich Ihren Platz für das Porte Festival
Dieses brandneue Festival findet am 7. und 8. September im Brooklyn Navy Yard statt. Bei der Premiere des Porte Festivals treten nationale und internationale Künstler wie Zillion, Igwe Aka, Diablo und Block & Crown auf. Weitere Künstler, darunter auch einige Überraschungen, sollen noch bekannt gegeben werden. Außerdem wird es eine große Auswahl an internationalen Gerichten zu probieren und zu kaufen geben!

8. BLUE unter der K-Brücke
Tanzen Sie am Labor Day-Wochenende bei BLUE, einer 12-stündigen musikalischen Reise, die auf der atemberaubenden Creekside-Wasserbühne Under the K Bridge in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, stattfindet! Dieses Open-Air-Festival ist Teil der BLUE-Reihe von Gray Area, die ein genreübergreifendes DJ-Lineup umfasst, darunter Afro-Tech-Star Shimza, Spencer Brown, die Desert-Heart-Legende Lee Reynolds b2b Mikey Lion und viele mehr. Die Veranstaltung findet am Sonntag, 1. September, ab 14 Uhr statt! Das 15. jährliche Einradfestival kehrt an diesem Labor Day Weekend nach NYC zurück und bietet Bereiche zum Erlernen des Fahrens, Basketball-Wettkämpfe, Vorführungen, Workshops und vieles mehr! 12. Luna Park in Coney Island
Der Luna Park in Coney Island lädt Gäste aus New York und darüber hinaus ein, an diesem Labor Day-Wochenende die letzten Momente des Sommers im Vergnügungspark zu verbringen. Von Freitag, dem 30. August, bis Montag, dem 2. September, lädt der Luna Park seine Gäste zu jeder Menge Spaß ein, darunter ein kostenloses Feuerwerk mit Blick auf die Strandpromenade am Freitagabend, das man nicht verpassen sollte! 13. Die große New Yorker Staatsmesse
Wenn Sie auf der Suche nach einem kleinen Wochenendausflug sind, sollten Sie die alljährliche Great New York State Fair im Norden des Staates besuchen! Hier gibt es alles, wovon Sie träumen : Fahrgeschäfte, köstliches Essen aus dem ganzen Bundesstaat und kostenlose Konzerte mit einigen der größten Namen der Musikszene! 14. Margarita Beach Club im Loreley Biergarten
Verabschieden Sie sich vom Sommer und feiern Sie das Labor Day-Wochenende im Loreley Beer Garden mit Brunch, kühlen Getränken und Margarita Beach Club das ganze Wochenende lang. Der Garten im Freien ist derzeit als Strandparadies mit einer tropischen Pflanzen- und Blumenwand und einem Rettungsschwimmerturm eingerichtet, der sich perfekt für ein Strandfoto eignet, und die Außenterrasse ist mit Strandkabinen ausgestattet. Dank eines von Blue Star gesponserten Programms ist der Eintritt in mehr als 40 Museen und Gärten der Stadt New York für aktive Angehörige der Nationalgarde und der Reserve sowie deren Familien kostenlos! Einige der bekanntesten Museen in New York, wie das Whitney, das Guggenheim und das American Museum of Natural History, sind an diesem Tag kostenlos zugänglich. 18. S2O New York
Das Wasser-Musik-Festival kommt zum LDW nach Brooklyn, und es ist noch Zeit, sich Tickets zu sichern! Das S20 Festival ist eines der weltweit größten Songkran-/Thai-Neujahrsfeste mit Veranstaltungen in Japan, Südkorea, Hongkong, Thailand, Taiwan und Vietnam… und jetzt bringt Pulse Events es in den Big Apple. Mit elektronischer Tanzmusik und vielen spektakulären Wassereffekten werden die beiden Festivitäten am 31. August und 1. September im Brooklyn Mirage stattfinden.

19. Militärische Anerkennung bei Field of Light
Die beliebte, groß angelegte und kostenlose Kunstinstallation „Field of Light“ wird während der LDW aktive, nicht im Dienst befindliche und pensionierte Militärangehörige und ihre Familien mit speziellen Eintrittskarten und Unterkünften für ihre Dienste ehren. Die Installation besteht aus sage und schreibe 18.750 schwach beleuchteten, faseroptischen Stielkugeln, die mit einem langsamen und subtilen Wechsel des Farbtons beleuchtet werden, der einfach unglaublich ist. 22. Letztes Wochenende der Sleeping Beauties: Mode zum Leben erweckt
Eine unserer derzeitigen Lieblingsausstellungen im Museum, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, wird am Labor Day Weekend ihre Zeit im The Met beenden. Die Frühjahrsausstellung 2024 des Costume Institute (die in diesem Jahr mit der Met Gala verbunden war) besteht aus 220 Kleidungsstücken und Accessoires, die sich auf die Natur konzentrieren und der Mode neue Sinneseindrücke verleihen. Die Ausstellung ist noch bis zum 2. September zu sehen.
