Zoë Kravitz’s ability to radiate cool girl energy is effortless, and our desperate desire to recreate it for ourselves is a never-ending feat. So when she spills on the places she likes to frequent in New York City there’s only one thing we’re going to do: give her our undivided attention. In a recent interview with Elle regarding the 2024 release of her directorial debut, Blink Twice, Kravitz unveiled some of her favorite things you can find her doing and places you can find her eating around the city.
Kravitz has been living in NYC for two decades–she was raised between Los Angeles, where her mom lived, and NYC and Miami where her dad lived after her parents’ split. Sorry, though, to our friends over in LA–Kravitz may like NYC better (but who doesn’t?!) She stated:
You can’t just walk and see where the day takes you [in LA], and that’s one of my favorite things about living [in NYC].
Here’s the Zoë Kravitz cool girl’s guide to NYC:
Zoë Kravitz’s favorite things to do in NYC:
Kravitz told Elle that, on many days, you can find her frolicking around NYC with her headphones in–often walking over the bridge–people-watching, reading and writing in a café, or catching a film at a movie theater.
Zoë Kravitz’s favorite NYC movie theaters:
- Metrograph
- Angelika Film Center
- IFC Center
- Regal Essex Crossing
Kravitz also noted that, while she likes Brooklyn’s Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, she’s not too fond of the fact that it’s in a mall, as she’s “always a little stoned when [she goes] to the movies.”
Zoë Kravitz’s favorite place to eat in NYC:
One of the many gems Kravitz has come to love during her time in NYC is Dimes. “I love this restaurant. I love this neighborhood, and I come here a lot. I feel like there’s just a coziness to it, and it’s a good vibe. And the food is really good,” she says. Dimes is the perfect place to feast on colorful, vegetable-forward dishes for delivery, dine-in, or to-go.
Dimes is actually the reason the micro-neighborhood got its name Dimes Square. If you’re unfamiliar with it, Dimes Square is one of NYC’s trendiest neighborhoods–so it only makes sense you’d find Kravitz there–commonly defined by Ludlow and Canal on the Lower East Side.
Kravitz says of NYC:
I feel like I’m part of something when I’m here. Some people find it chaotic, but I find it calming, and I find myself fed by the energy of the city. This is a place where I can be alone, but not feel alone. It’s an incredibly special place, and I find it really inspiring. It’s not as segregated as other cities, and you’re around really different kinds of people, with different kinds of interests. Even the sound. And people go, ‘It’s noisy.’ I’m like, ‘I find it comforting…I want horns and people screaming.
