We already know that drive-in theaters will be all the rage this summer.
Just a little evidence here and here. But now NYC is set to get another one, right at the iconic Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.
MASC Hospitality Group, which also puts on the Bronx Night Market and the Bronx Beer Festival, plans to host the “Uptown Drive-In” each weekend in July in a Yankee Stadium parking lot.
They want the experience to serve as a “social distancing playground” and “the first step to normalization made right here in our beloved Bronx,” according to the sign-up page. It will include live performances from local musicians, street vendor dining and drinks that will be served right to your car, games, raffles, and of course, movie screenings.
According to an interview with CNN, some of the events also include karaoke nights, and specialty nights like Latin or LGBTQ.
Tickets are not available yet, but will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. They are also working with the city and state to make sure COVID-19 safety measures are in place. They told CNN that cars must park 10 feet apart from each other to maintain social distancing, and capacity will be capped at 200 cars.
You can sign up here to be the first to know when tickets are released! Tickets will only be available online.
