In our humble opinion, New York City is the best place in the world for anything: pizza, opportunities, tap water etc. So it doesn’t come as a shock that New York City was rated to have one of the best dessert spots in the entire world. But with so many delicious options, can you take a guess at what it could be?
Ok, we won’t make you wait any longer. Junior’s Restaurant and Bakery for its NY-style Cheesecake was awarded a spot on Taste Atlas’ 150 Most Legendary Dessert Places in the World. I mean who could ever say no to its silky texture and sweet simplicity?!
Taste Atlas understands that “the realm of desserts, with its intricate pastries and sweets, often blurs the line between culinary art and science,” so it’s no easy feat to make the legendary list.
Junior’s New York-style cheesecake officially ranked at #28, sandwiched between Torta Pedrocchi from Caffè Pedrocchi in Padua, Italy (#27) and fruit biscuits from Karachi Bakery in Hyderabad, India (#29).
The restaurant and bakery was established in NYC in 1950. Each location is known for its bustling crowd, retro vibe and of course, unforgettable cheesecake. The restaurant actually just announced their first ever West Coast location opening up in Las Vegas this fall.
P.S. we even have the recipe to make your very own Junior’s cheesecake at home!
Seven other U.S. dessert places made the list including beignets from Cafe du Monde, frozen custard from Ted Drewes Frozen Custard, Tutti Frutti ice cream from Leopold’s, a sundae from the Ghirardelli Chocolate Experience, donuts from Round Rock Donuts, Malasadas from Leonard’s Bakery, and a lobster tail from Carlo’s Bakery.
