Though New York City is home to some of the most famous landmarks in the world, there’s one in particular that reigns above all—and it’s not the Statue of Liberty…
According to TripAdvisor’s 2024 Travelers’ Choice Awards, the Empire State Building Observatory is the world’s number one attraction. This is not the first year the Empire State Building has received this honor. In fact, this is the third consecutive year the Empire State Building Observatory has been awarded the best attraction in the world.
“The Empire State Building Observatory is the most authentic New York City attraction, and this incredible global recognition is further proof that our decision to require reservations and avoid crowds at our reimagined Observatory Experience has been a huge success,” said Anthony E. Malkin, chairman and CEO of Empire State Realty Trust. Malkin even said he’d take pie in the face if they won for the third year in a row. “Now I have to choose my flavor,” he said.
Over recent years the iconic landmark has undergone a $165 million makeover. It now features a separate visitors entrance, nine gallery museum, a new 102nd floor Observatory and more.
“After two years topping the US list, it is exciting to see the Empire State Building claim the number one spot on the world stage,” said Kristen Dalton, president, Tripadvisor. “Winners of Tripadvisor’s coveted Best of the Best awards are among the top 1% of listings on our site and are chosen based on reviews from engaged travelers, which make this win an incredible achievement.”
The tower lights sparkled green to celebrate the honor on June 25th. Most recently, the Empire State Building was most recently seen with a sprawling dragon atop its mast for the premiere of House of the Dragon.
