We’ve seen King Kong atop the Empire State Building, and even Jared Leto, and now…there’s a dragon!
And this isn’t just any dragon.
First off, it has a name: Vhagar. And it’s a massive 270-feet long. But no, he didn’t just fly his way to NYC to perch atop the ESB.
Vhagar is the latest in a string of marketing stunts by Max to promote season two of House of the Dragon. The marketing includes a weeklong takeover
According to a press release from the Empire State Realty Trust, House of the Dragon fans can head to the world-famous Observatory Experience for a photo opportunity with the iconic Iron Throne, a visit from the show’s cast, and a one-of-a-kind Game of Thrones universe photo opportunity on the 80th Floor.
Tickets can be purchased here.
If you’re not down for the entire experience you can still see the dragon from the ground–the Trust says in Manhattan from the south of the ESB provides for the best views. It will stay up until Wednesday, June 19th.
Trust Chairman and CEO Tony Malkin stated:
Just after the Empire State Building pledged its allegiance to the King, Vhagar descended upon the heart of New York City and has claimed the mast of the ‘World’s Most Famous Building’ as her perch. Citizens of Westeros can now sit in the Iron Throne at the Observatory’s grand staircase and then rise to the 86th Floor to face the colossal beast up close as they take in the unmatched, 360-degree views from our world-famous Observatory.
More than just a dragon can be seen around NYC, however. There’s been a full NYC takeover with everything from banners to food and drink specials and even interactive experiences. Whether you’re #TeamGreen or #TeamBlack, there’s plenty of ways to support your side in NYC! More on this here.
Season two of House of the Dragon kicked off on Sunday, June 16th. It’s the prequel to Game of Thrones.
