The U.S. Open is the most famous international tennis tournament that concludes the annual Grand Slam of tennis, taking place this year from Monday, August 26th through Sunday, September 8th. However, this tournament isn’t only about the players.
Fans all around the world are also what make the U.S. Open so special, and that’s why they’re celebrated in a big way!
This year, the U.S. Open Fan Week is taking place Monday, August 19 through Sunday, August 25, offering a ton of fun, tennis-centric events and activities perfect for the whole family!
“This is the biggest and most exciting year yet for US Open Fan Week,” said US Open Tournament Director Stacey Allaster. “With a lineup of unique signature events starring tennis icons and headlining entertainers, up-close access to the sport at its pinnacle and a variety of fun activities available every day, the US Open is truly open and accessible for all.”
This year’s Fan Week features a whole slate of exciting events, which include star-studded friendly matches, food tastings, and a chance to get up close and personal with the athletes! Each day has its own featured event that you won’t want to miss, and the highlights are as follows:
- Sunday, August 18 – Sounds of the Open Concert headlined by Dierks Bentley and featuring Chase Rice
Country music superstar Dierks Bentley will headline the inaugural concert played inside Louis Armstrong Stadium on the eve of Fan Week to kick off the three weeks of tennis and entertainment to come! The ticketed event starts at 7:30 pm.
- Monday, August 19 – Legends of the Open presented by FAGE
A free-to-attend Legends exhibition match at Arthur Ashe Stadium featuring New York hometown favorite and former world No. 4 James Blake, former world No. 1 Garbine Muguruza and former world No. 2 Tommy Haas.
- Monday, August 19 – US Open Qualifying Tournament Begins
128 men and 128 women battle for the final 16 spots in the singles Main Draws on the US Open’s field courts.
- Tuesday, August 20 – US Open Mixed Madness presented by IHG Hotels & Resorts
A new, blockbuster mixed doubles event featuring four teams of current men’s and women’s stars competing for $500,000 in prize compensation, with $250,000 going to the winning team. The teams include: defending US Open champion Coco Gauff and Ben Shelton; two-time US Open champion Naomi Osaka and Nick Kyrgios; Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa; Taylor Fritz and Aryna Sabalenka. This is a ticketed event that starts at 7 pm at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
- Wednesday, August 21 – Stars of the Open
A tennis exhibition benefiting the USTA Foundation, featuring our-time and defending US Open Champion Novak Djokovic, two-time US Open champion Venus Williams, 2022 US Open champion Carlos Alcaraz, Jessica Pegula, Frances Tiafoe, Caroline Wozniacki, and former US Open Champions Andre Agassi, John McEnroe, Gabriela Sabatini, Andy Roddick, and more. It’s ticketed (starts at $30) and is happening at 7 pm at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
- Thursday, August 22 – Flavors of the Open
Experience the wide-ranging culinary offerings of the U.S. Open while watching players practice. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the USTA Foundation. (tickets on sale now) Featured chefs include Ed Brown, Josh Capon, Alex Guarnaschelli, Pat LaFrieda, Kwame Onwuachi, Benjamin Steakhouse and more.
- Friday, August 23 – US Open Media Day
A fan-facing interview circuit allowing fans in Arthur Ashe Stadium to hear directly from the players up close and personal. It starts at noon.
- Friday, August 23 – US Open Block Party
Brand new this year, the US Open Block Party is a dynamic, festival-style celebration on the Fountain Plaza featuring music from a variety of well-known DJs, player appearances and much more! It’s happening from 7 – 10 pm.
- Saturday, August 24 – Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day
Celebrating the life and legacy of tennis and cultural icon Arthur Ashe, tennis fans of all ages will be able to experience a variety of entertainment and activities throughout the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. This year’s edition features kids and family activities all throughout the grounds, including top players, music acts, face painting and a free special show in Arthur Ashe Stadium. It’s happening from 9:30 am – 4 pm.
- Sunday, August 25 – Open Practice Day
Fans can watch the game’s top players practice as they prepare for the US Open main draws throughout the grounds of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
Plus, new to the festivities this year is an immersive physical gaming space dubbed the “Advantage Arena” where fans can play games on Fortnite, Roblox, TopSpin 2K5 and Tennis Clash. Also, there’s Marvel-themed activities this year including character appearances, comic-book signings, and more!
