That’s right, TWA’s rooftop pool is actually open year round—and yes, it’s heated!
The TWA Hotel is located at JFK Airport, in Eero Saarinen’s landmark 1962 TWA Flight Center, which was a high-glamour and “futuristic” (for the time) airline gate until it closed in the 2000s. Now it boasts ultra-quiet guest rooms, restaurants, and lots of vintage airline components.
Over the years, it’s opened a retro roller rink, bumper cars, pickleball court and most recently a curling rink. But it’s most notable amenity definitely remains its infinity rooftop pool that stays open all year long!
The pool offers panoramic views of one of the biggest runways at JFK (12,079 feet long!), so you can watch planes and jets take off into the clouds as you sip on a drink by the water! And the pool is purified every 30 minutes (a standard pool recirculates every 6 hours).
It’s also heated up to 95 degrees for the colder months, so it’s more like a pool/jacuzzi (or “pool-cuzzi” as they call it).
Speaking of drinks, the Pool Bar is serving an inventive menu with aviation-inspired bites and cocktails like the “Jet Fuel” with cucumber mint vodka, Aperol, fresh lemon juice & muddled watermelon and the “Control Tower Sour” with Amaretto, fresh lemon & orange juices, simple syrup & Angostura bitters.
Reservations for the pool are not required in the winter. TWA Hotel guests can use the pool in the winter months free of charge, but non-hotel guests can go for a dip for a $25 cover (adult ticket pricing). Admission for both hotel and non-hotel guests include entry to the pool and observation deck, in addition to seating at the Pool Bar.
Or, they also have a “Daytripper” option, where you can pay for a four to eight hour “day stay” to enjoy the amenities of the hotel without booking an overnight room!More details can be found here.
