Since we all have florals on the brain — and some of us might’ve missed Tulip Day in Union Square — why not venture to the Tri State Tulip Festival at Dalton Farms?
Only an hour and a half from NYC, this farm in Swedesboro, New Jersey, will make the most of the spring season with one million tulips and thousands of daffodils just waiting to go into a bouquet. We’re gonna need a bigger vase.
All about the Tri State Tulip Festival at Dalton Farms
Beginning Thursday, April 3rd the sixth annual u-pick season will commence and run roughly until April 27th, according to the attraction. Visitors will be able to select petals of their choosing for $2 or $10 for 10. But the seasonal extravaganza goes beyond some one-on-one time in nature and provides great activities to enjoy once your floral situation is set:
- Live music
- Food vendors and trucks (Weekends)
- Beer and wine garden (Weekends)
- Pedal boating
- Wagon rides
- Playgrounds
- A low ropes course
If you’re looking to make the most out of the sunshine and want to escape the city for a few hours, we highly recommend taking the time to step into the gorgeous fields and stocking your apartment with plenty of fresh blooms. And if you’re Jersey-bound you should also consider an escape to Holland Ridge Farms, which is considered the next best thing to a trip to Holland (and has a Tulip Festival of its own.)
But if you head in the opposite direction towards Long Island, you’re also in luck, as the Long Island Tulip Festival rakes in a whopping 2.5 million florals and is considered one of the top 10 events of its kind in the country.
For those who wish to stay in the city for the time being, the West Side Garden Community Tulip Festival will get underway on weekends beginning Saturday, April 12th. Though we’d definitely encourage an escape, too. Hey, the more flowers, the merrier!
