You’ve probably seen the insanely gorgeous spring tulips displays in The Netherlands, but even if you can’t travel you can still experience it for yourself only a short distance from NYC!
Holland Ridge Farms, located about an hour and ten minutes from NYC in Cream Ridge, New Jersey, brings that tulip magic to the tri-state area.
The farm was started by the Jansen family, whose patriarch immigrated to the U.S. from Holland in 1964. He learned how to grow tulip bulbs properly from his own father, and brought that knowledge right to NJ. Then in 2017 his family purchased 153 acres of farmland that they transformed into a U-Pick tulip farm for the public to enjoy.
Now, every year, visitors can take in beautiful, vibrant fields filled with millions of tulips. It’s open for the season right now, seven days a week rain or shine for all of your enjoyment! You must hurry though, because they only bloom for about 2-3 weeks and are in their peak right now.
Tickets are not sold at the farm, so you have to reserve them in advance here, about $13 for adults. There are three time slots each day you can choose from, and there are always food trucks on hand so you can make a day of it (and get plenty of gorgeous photos!). You can also pick as many flowers as you want (they provide plastic buckets) for $1 per stem.
