As part of Rockefeller Center’s Under 30, NYC’s upcoming bakery by day and bar by night concept is opening its doors to pastry lovers and party people alike starting tomorrow, August 9th. You’ll be able to order your morning pastries and evening glass of wine all under the same roof!
The one-of-a-kind spot comes from the minds behind NYC’s Cafe d’Avignon. Customers will be able to grab freshly baked Viennoiserie and iced lattes to start their day, and end it with Mediterranean-style shared plates and boozy beverages at the same spot.
“We wanted to create a warm and welcoming space where seemingly opposing concepts—morning and night, coffee and wine, the baker’s counter and the bar—live in harmony,” says co-founder Uliks Fehmiu.
“It’s a space where you can grab a sandwich and salad on the go, or you can sit down at a table and have a glass of wine with a beautifully plated lunch. In the morning, it is your favorite coffee spot and bakery, but come lunch and dinner, it’s transformed into a bustling bistro to meet friends and unwind. This new location is aptly named in honor of the many bakers who do indeed love to get a little tipsy after a hard day of work.”
The design evokes a 1920’s Parisian bakery with a brass and stone bar, rattan benches, cozy tables and beautiful windows. Taking inspiration from Rockefeller Center’s art deco design, the transcendent space simultaneously honors contrasting styles of traditional bakeries and bistros.
Queens native Andres Grundy is the executive chef, bringing fresh dishes such as Persian Aubergine Spread, Grilled Spanish Octopus, and Crispy Pork Belly to plates. As for drinks, general manager and beverage director Ben Kaufman, is ensuring The Tipsy Baker is stocked with sustainable and biodynamic wines and locally brewed beers.
