Calling all zombies and ghouls: now’s the time to dust off your red leather jacket and find a pair of white socks.
NYC Halloween enthusiasts are currently searching for fellow spooky kids to join the “Thriller” dance at the end of the Village Halloween parade. The iconic conclusion to the annual happening is a 21-year tradition that has evolved into a social media sensation — and you can become part of it (even if your moonwalks aren’t as smooth as MJ’s).
Registration is about to open, and you wouldn’t want to miss out — the midnight hour is close at hand.
How to join the 2025 “Thriller” dance at the Village Halloween Parade
NYC creator @adventuressashley breaks down the process of applying, and it’s fairly straightforward. Newbies, however, will require a little more dedication.
First things first: Registration opens Wednesday, October 1st at noon — a perfect way to kick off the spookiest month of the year.
Like any good NYC event, tickets sell out pretty quickly, but the first 100 people to sign up are guaranteed a slot. If you’re new to the crew, there will be a mandatory indoor rehearsal on Sunday, October 19th from 12-3:30pm, followed by an outdoor rehearsal on Sunday, October 26th, time TBD.
Registered zombies will receive location details upon sign-up. All different levels are welcome to register.
Should you have two left feet but want to be involved in the tradition, the team is looking for bouncers to keep spectators from joining the dance on the night of the event. If you’re interested, email bouncer@thrillernyc.com.
Considering the Village is one of the best neighborhoods for Halloween in NYC — and the dance is something everyone looks forward to — why not join in?
