For those who’d rather skip the crowds, you can catch the parade live on NY1 from 8 pm to 9:30 pm.
How do I get there?
The subway is the best way — parking is nearly impossible.
Expect service changes: the L train will run every 5–8 minutes, and certain stations (like Spring St and 14th St/6th Ave) will have restricted entrances and exits.

The history of the Village Halloween Parade
The Village Halloween Parade started back in 1973 as a small neighborhood walk led by Greenwich Village mask-maker Ralph Lee.
Today, it’s a full-blown NYC tradition recognized as the “Best Event in the World” for October 31st by Festivals International.
Through the decades, it has also become a symbol of NYC’s resilience — from honoring 9/11 with a Phoenix puppet rising from the ashes to marching on in 2017 just hours after a terrorist attack.
