In addition to Astoria’s first-ever Krispy Kreme, the Queens neighborhood can expect more “firsts” headed its way.
Target originally released their plans for an Astoria location back in 2018. Since then, the new location is set to be Target’s third small-format store in Queens that will “offer a unique shopping experience specifically designed for families with young kids, on-the-go commuters and young professionals.”
According the report, the store will span 47,000 square feet at 22-11 31st Street near the Astoria-Ditmars Blvd subway station. Meant to be a “quick-trip shopping experience,” customers can expect everything from tech accessories to a CVS Pharmacy located inside.
“We’re excited to provide Astoria and Ditmars-Steinway residents ease and convenience, with a curated assortment that includes household, home décor, beauty and kids’ products,” said Mark Schindele, Executive Vice President of Target.
The Astoria Target will take over the previous location of a Key Foods that had been on-site for nearly 50 years but was recently demolished in 2020 after the supermarket could not reach an agreement with the landlord, reported Queens Post.
According to YIMBY, the construction of the new three-story property is underway with a projected completion by 2023.
