The Wicked Witch of the West might melt in the rain, but the witches of Sleepy Hollow actually thrive in the water — and this fall festival is proof.
The annual SUP Witches Paddle, a product of Rivertowns SUP & Yoga, sees that all members of the coven hit the water in their goth garb for the annual tradition. If you thought these ladies knew how to zip around on a broom, wait ’til you see them in action on the Hudson River.
For a fun Halloween experience with a summer twist, allow us to fill you in. (And yes, the Headless Horseman will be in attendance as well — but no water activities for him.)
A deep dive into the SUP Witches Paddle (Oct. 19th)
Before the festivities kick off on the water at 1pm, Kingspland Point Park will have plenty to offer: live music from The Slicked Up 9’s, craft cocktails and beer, goods from local vendors, and food neighborhood eats like Walter’s Hot Dogs and Beekman Ale House.
Tickets are sold on site, and those who are interested in paddling — witch costume required — will need to register online ($35 for those bringing their own board, $50 for those who are not). Paddling witches need not purchase an extra ticket after registering.
Before hitting the water, keep in mind that there are a few non-negotiable requirements for witches:
- All witches need to know how to swim
- PFDs and leashes are required
- Previous paddle experience is required
Due to the impending nor’easter that’s heading for the east coast, keep in mind that the festival has moved from October 12th to October 19th — “same place, same time, same magic!”
For more information on the event, visit the Rivertowns Sup & Yoga website. Even if you’re not keen on paddling, there are plenty of other fall activities to keep witches, ghosts, ghouls, and beyond busy this spooky season.
