With outdoor dining continuing all year round (and may be the only type of dining in NYC soon…), restaurants have gotten very creative with how to keep customers both safe and warm during the chilly winter months.
Though we’ve already seen winter “cabins” and igloos, we have to say we love these holiday-themed versions of the popular “dining bubbles” that actually look like magical snow globes thanks to their own individual Christmas trees and a white bottom lining that looks like snow!
It’s the work of Route 66 Smokehouse (you may also know them as The Cauldron), located on the historic Stone Street (which is already the most magical place to be with its twinkle lights and cobblestone streets) in the Financial District of NYC.
Each “globe” is equipped with a picnic table seating 4-10 guests, and is completely heated!
Of course, many safety measures are in place, including temperature checks (and contact tracing info gathered), a staff that sanitizes the entire interior between reservations, AND a minimum of 30 minutes is built in between reservations so they can entirely open the bubble and let it air out.
Route 66 serves classic American bars foods and a BBQ menu with the likes of brisket, pulled pork, and fried chicken sandwiches, plus rib platters and veggie options like buffalo cauliflower. Don’t miss the delicious cocktail menu from a giant “margarita tower” to hot drinks like spiked apple cider.
