Brooklyn Heights is the city’s first official historic district, renowned for its great collection of 19th‑century rowhouses and its role in American urban history. But besides its famous promenade with views of the Manhattan skyline, the district also houses a Gothic Revival Episcopal church built in 1847—St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church. This Brooklyn gem is home to the earliest complete set of figural stained‑glass windows made in America, and it is now opening its doors to an epic concert that celebrates ‘The Lord of the Rings’.
An underrated historic treasure welcomes music from ‘The Lord of the Rings’ films
Built on the highest point in Brooklyn Heights on Montague Street, St. Ann & the Holy Trinity was once the tallest building in all of NYC. The church on Montague Street holds a number of treasures, from the exquisite stained-glass windows crafted by the Bolton brothers in 1845 to the largest unchanged E.M. Skinner organ in the city.
Its pointed arches, vaulted roof and ornate details will be illuminated by thousands of candles this coming April, as the themes from the legendary film franchise resound in the church’s beautiful nave.

Candlelight joins forces with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences for a special concert series that celebrates the 25th anniversary of the release of ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’. With three confirmed dates in April, both music lovers and film buffs can rediscover the trilogy’s iconic soundtrack. The setlist has been approved by the films’ own Oscar-winning music composer Howard Shore, including some of the most beloved melodies, from “Gollum’s Song” to “Minas Tirith” and “The Ride of the Rohirrim”.
These unforgettable melodies will be recreated by the musicians of Highline String Quartet at the 178-year-old landmark in one of New York’s most charming neighborhoods. There will be multiple sessions available on select dates at 8:45 pm so you can choose the date that best fits your schedule.
