After a slushy mess on Thursday morning, NYC is gearing up for snow this weekend before those Super Bowl watch parties are set to get underway.
We certainly hope flurries don’t interfere with our big game celebrations, but it’s best to be prepared for whatever comes our way. According to reports, Saturday, February 8th will range from a low of 24°F and a high of 33°F with a roughly 80-90% chance of snow. Flurries will start in the evening after 6pm and likely last into early Sunday morning until roughly 3am. It’s possible that NYC could receive anywhere from 2-4 inches of snow, and areas north and northeast of the city can experience 5+ inches.
Although there is no winter weather advisory for NYC at the time of publication, the National Weather Service has issued a storm watch for the tri-state area from Saturday evening until Sunday morning. The agency recommends monitoring the latest forecast for updates. Roads, particularly bridges and overpasses, are predicted to be slippery.
Will this finally be the snowfall New Yorkers are expecting? The initial snow predictions at the very beginning of 2025 indicated that Winter Storm Blair would wreak havoc on us, but NYC has been left mostly unscathed. NYC’s first snow of the season arrived a mere six days into 2025, but overall, we haven’t gotten many flurries. Frigid temperatures, on the other hand — that’s another story! (If you haven’t looked at our guide to apartment heating in NYC, we highly suggest you do.)
Per local forecasts, more snow is predicted for the middle of the week, so stay tuned for further updates.
