Looks like the Polar Vortex is just getting started.
NYC’s first snow of the season arrived a mere six days into 2025, and the winter weather is set to continue over the weekend. According to the city’s 10-day forecast, more snow is slated for Saturday, January 11th. Per The Weather Channel’s predictions, we’re 50% likely to see anywhere between 1 to 3 inches of snow. In the evening, our snow chances decrease to 30% and the wintry mix will likely end around midnight.
We can’t say this is much of a surprise. Those frigid January temperatures — you know, the coldest in 13 years — will continue throughout the weekend. Saturday is expected to reach a high of 38°F and a low of 28°F. (If you haven’t looked at our guide to apartment heating in NYC, we highly suggest you do.)
The initial snow predictions at the very beginning of 2025 indicated that Winter Storm Blair would potentially wreak havoc on us, but NYC has been left mostly unscathed. Monday, January 6th left us with scenic flurries and cozy vibes (albeit a winter advisory and slippery conditions in the evening). The snow did not even stick. Time will tell if things will change later in the week.
