Prepare for a messy commute, NYC: a storm is heading our way on Thursday, February 6th. At this time, a winter weather advisory is currently in place throughout NYC, Long Island, and the Hudson Valley — as well as parts of New Jersey — until the late morning as a rain and snow combo gears up for arrival.
According to the Weather Channel’s 10-day forecast, NYC is likely to see rain and sleet in the morning, and cloudy conditions throughout the afternoon. Should any snow or ice accumulate, the city will most likely get less than one inch. Temperatures will be a high of 38°. Though we’re not going to have sledding conditions (apologies, kiddos) we will most likely see a messy rush to the office, so prepare accordingly.
We are currently in the midst of NYC’s coldest winter in 13 years, plus Punxsutawney Phil suggested six more weeks of winter weather are underway. (Though his NYC counterpart, Staten Island Chuck, said the opposite and has a higher accuracy rate.) We cannot say news of this storm is unexpected, but not necessarily welcomed considering its timing with our commutes.
Wear the appropriate winter gear, factor extra time into your trek to the office, and stay safe, NYC!
