Scarr’s Pizza has long been hailed as one of the best slices in NYC, and soon New Yorkers won’t have to travel all the way to Orchard Street to have a bite.
Eater first reported news yesterday that Scarr’s would be opening a kiosk in another new food hall in Midtown, as was discovered on this architecture firm’s website. The websites promises a 250-square-foot space that replicates the original location’s aesthetic: an old-school New York diner with street art and hip-hop influences. The completion date on the website says Spring 2020.
As for the food hall in general, it appears to be the same one coming from DeKalb Market Hall creators that was announced this past summer. The Real Deal reported in August that they would be opening a 10,000-square-foot food hall at 601 Lexington Avenue, on the bottom floor of the Citigroup Center Tower.
Scarr’s was opened by Scarr Pimentel on the Lower East Side in 2016. It quickly grew in popularity and became a staple on the New York pizza scene. They use 100% all-natural and stone milled flour (done on-site), and you can taste the difference.
The current location is on 22 Orchard Street. This will be their first expansion to a second location.
