The Governor’s executive order that all New Yorkers must wear a face covering in public officially goes into effect today at 8pm.
He said “all people MUST wear a mask or face covering in public in situations where social distancing is not possible.
“For example, if you are riding on public transit where it is impossible to maintain social distancing, or walking on a busy sidewalk, you must wear a face covering like a bandana or a mask.”
He also added yesterday that you MUST wear a face covering or mask when on public transportation, in for-hire vehicles (Uber/Lyft/Taxi), and if you are a bus/train operator or a driver of a for-hire vehicle.
