An enigmatic cocktail bar has officially opened its doors in Bushwick where the drinks are eccentric, the decor is funky and tropical, and the vibes, according to locals, encompass an overall “sensory delight where every bite and sip leaves you craving more.”
Dubbed Ra-Ra Rhino, this watering hole is the newest addition to NYC’s hidden speakeasy scene, and it’s delivering all the Tiki-influenced vibes we could ever hope and dream for.
The space is situated in the back of artisanal donut shop Dromedary Doughnuts. Accessed by walking through the shop’s fully operational photo booth, guests are welcomed into a clandestine oasis complete with a giant smoke-blowing rhino head.
As for the cocktails they’re as unusual as ever in the best way possible, like the Vegemitini, a Vegemite-infused gin martini paired with Haku Vodka, Noilly Prat extra dry vermouth, and sherry.
Rhino originals include the 34 Yr Old Zombie, made with a Solera Blend of 34 rums, pomelo, cinnamon, house grenadine, absinthe, and citrus 16, the Naked and Almost Famous made with Pierde Almas Mezcal, mal bien limon, yellow chartreuse, aperol, and agave 18, and the Pacific Rim which combines Siete Misterios Doba-Yej, Herradura Blanco, pandan syrup, passionfruit, pineapple, and citrus 20.
A selection of wine and beer is also on the menu.
Innovative and imaginative food offerings also grace the menu, such as the Cacio e Pepe Beignets, made with pecorino, black pepper, and buttermilk dough, the Ra-Ra ‘Roni, large slices of crispy pepperoni drizzled with Mike’s Hot Honey and served with a side of pineapple mascarpone, and Fried Spam.
The brainchild of Michael Lombardozzi, who also is the one behind Dromedary Bar Urban Tiki Bar, the speakeasy promises to be the opposite of dreary, quiet, and melancholy.
Ra-Ra Rhino is located at 1329 Willoughby Avenue. You can learn more and make reservations on their website.
