Looking for a little lunch time inspiration? Pepper Lunch is a DIY teppan “fast-steak” restaurant franchise from Tokyo, with locations in LA, Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong and now finally, New York City!
Their motto is cook it your way which means you get to choose exactly how you like your steak and it adds a creative twist to the typical dining out experience. Chef and owner Kunio Ichinose chose the name because pepper is an essential spice in cooking tasty food and lunch because of the reasonable prices (for high-quality ingredients) on offer all day. After you order your food at the counter, you’ll be served your dish on a teppan iron platter (heated at 500ºF) and thats when the fun begins! Time to get sizzling!
The menu offers variations on the simple dish of steak and pepper rice (with miso soup and salad), with choices including; hamburg steak with egg ($12.50), angus beef steak ($20.90), chicken steak ($12.50) and more. Rice options range from anything with beef to fish with prices starting from around $11. You also have several sides to choose from such as onion rings and fries so you know you’ll be leaving this place stuffed!
