NYC is no stranger to speakeasies, we’ve got ones disguised as locksmiths, others behind ice cream parlors, however, Paper Planes offers its own unique stake in NYC’s landscape of secret bars with its very own paper path.
Find the speakeasy located at 154 Orchard Street. Once you arrive, head down the stairs and follow the pathway of paper planes that hang from the ceiling in a low hallway. You’ll enter into an expansive space with a high glass roof ceiling, bar seating, and an array of tables.
Belly up to the bar and watch one of the team’s mixologists craft your cocktail right before your eyes. Each drink on their menu was carefully selected to provide customers with a variety of choices, all organized under cheeky categories such as “Mile High Club” for some serious cocktails, “Turbulent Times” for shaken cocktails, and “Experienced Traveler” for timeless drinks.
Be sure to try their signature “Paper Plane” cocktail made with bourbon, aperol, lemon, amaro montenegro and garnished with an adorable mini paper plane. One sip in and you’ll surely become a frequent flyer.
If you get hungry while exploring the cocktail menu, order from their “Inflight Food Service” offering snacks and tapas like potato croquettes, cheese and charcuterie, or duck rilette.
