NYC is home to plenty of gyms, from boxing gyms to rock climbing gyms, but OutBox is NYC’s only trans-owned queer boxing gym.
OutBox is the brainchild of founder and head coach Max Adler, USA amateur boxer, coach, and personal trainer with over decade of experience.
After years of competing in the female division, Max transitioned and re-entered the fighting world, where hardships he experienced as a trans person in sports and fitness inspired him to create a space where Trans/GNC/LGBTQ+ members of the community could come train and workout comfortably.
On the schedule you’ll find boxing classes for all levels, including All-Levels Boxing & Strength, Intermediate Boxing, and their Advanced Sparring Class.
They also offer LGBTQ+ classes and private training, including personal training and TGNC training, which are always Queer-led and suitable for all levels of experience.
They recently expanded and purchased a bunch of exercise equipment so the community would have a safe traditional gym space beyond the gym’s regular boxing classes.
Plus, clear your schedule because OutBox is hosting a party this Friday, July 28 at 8p.m. that will include queer/trans performers and activations such as flash tattoos, live DJs and performances, haircuts, and more! All proceeds go towards funding the gym and their weekly free community classes.
