The second day of the 2025 Gov Ball festival began on a down note after a weather delay postponed the festivities, but Olivia Rodrigo and David Byrne swooped in to close out the day on a high note.
Olivia, Saturday’s headliner, took the stage to dazzle the audience with her angsty pop ballads — anyone else get a lil’ teary-eyed during “Driver’s License”? — but fans certainly did not expect the surprise she had in store for them.
If the rain kept you in, witness the now viral moment in the clip below.

In a move no one saw coming, the pop crooner decided to bring out Talking Heads’ lead singer and the two instantly won over the crowd. Check out their dance moves below as they performed “Burning Down the House.”
Though the festival isn’t over yet, we’re willing to bet this will go down as 2025’s most unforgettable moment.
And it’s a timely one at that: on the 50th anniversary of the band’s first live show, the group decided to release a music video for “Psycho Killer” several days ago with a very chaotic Saoirse Ronan at its center. Director Mike Mills considered it quite an experience.
“It’s 13 days and each day gets a very strong emotional prompt that she followed through all those different iteration,” he told Variety. “Half the time was spent like, ‘OK, go change your clothes, come back, be incredibly angry and throw the chair. OK, go change your clothes, come back, cry.’ It really did feel athletic.”
You’ll have to see it for yourself:
Overall, this surprise performance leads us to believe that the classics never go out of style and you can never be too young to appreciate the good stuff.
Gov Ball will wrap up on Sunday, June 8th, and headliner Hozier will close out this year’s event. For more on the festival itself, be sure to have a look at our 2025 Gov Ball guide. If you need us, we’ll be reliving this moment for the rest of the weekend.
