Someone tell Staten Island Chuck that he’s fired: the NYC weather this week is anything but spring-like.
Tuesday, February 17th saw single-digit temps and winds up to 31mph that only added to the bitter cold. However, when it comes to a blizzard blast, it looks like NYC is being spared. (Phew!)
After a series of storms last week, NYC is likely to see a bit of snow from Wednesday evening into Thursday morning. However, nothing is likely to accumulate to any great degree. In fact, NYC somehow majorly missed out on a potential nor’easter that has moved south. (Sorry kiddos, no sledding this week.)
Once the threat passes on Thursday, we can expect higher winds to return to roughly 30 mph, and we are going to be experiencing temperatures colder than Alaska. You’d think we’d see some snow in a case like that, but it looks like NYC is simply not on the storm’s radar (at least for now).
Expect some reprieve come the weekend, as temperatures escalate to the high 30s (practically a scorcher) and the sun peaks out on Saturday, February 22nd. We can even work our way towards the low 40s on Sunday, but expect clouds. As soon as more information is available, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
